Reminds me of how streaming services have almost successfully redefined the word "free", as shorthand for "free with subscription".
And "free with subscription" is literally telling you "free costs money". "No extra charge" is better, but "free" sells more units.

My spouse, when she taught, had to navigate people using GPT and just... lying so badly *about* lying that it was painful to hear the secondhand stories.
