Is it "impossible to know" if a successful man got into college because his father was rich and influential rather than on his merits? No. It is possible to know. You could, for example, check whether an applicant with the same grades and SAT scores without a rich influential father got in.

"Is somebody who does a Hitler salute a friend of the Jews or not?" doesn't seem like a question that requires advanced historical literacy. Like it would be too easy for the AP history test. Even too easy for the history regents. Maybe like a question for 5th graders.
