No doesn't have to be right before, not sure if there is a numbered set of days but I assume as long as you have NSO it should be saved to the cloud until you can afford to get a Switch 2. Might want to Google it tho.

Should be near the factory reset setting.

In the settings on Switch 1 you can system transfer to the cloud to save for a Switch 2 transfer if you have NSO.
