Zelenky stood in front of the American government, in the seat of our democracy, and thanked our entire nation. Every farmer, teacher, engineer, nurse, and cop. Thanked us on behalf of his entire country. youtu.be/7gjwlCe5T6M?...

The gist here appears to be not "the courts can't speak on what the law is," but rather "previously independent agencies are no longer free to speak for the Executive Branch on what the law is in their area, only the White House or Dep't of Justice can henceforth do that in an authoritative way." /2

Is now really the time we want to be adding more surveillance technology for automated enforcement? It's a slippery road and once deployed there's the risk we could be compelled to use it for other things...

Some of Elon/DOGE's activities make sense (beyond self-enriching) also as if they're taking some SciFi they've read as an objective rather than as a dystopian warning. In this case it appears as a "Hey, what if we could make America more like it is in _Snow Crash_?!"

My 11yo plays lots of games written in Scratch, many of which remind me of things from the 80's that I might have played on my C64. Thankfully my employer is very much into our FlexBase work-where-you-are-productive (which for me is home most of the time) model.

Antisemitism is also surging again in parts of the world, including here in the US. We must stay vigilant both to protect those vulnerable and marginalized groups, but to also to prevent the slippery slope that could lead to another holocaust. 4/4

What starts with people who are transgender, have disabilities, are immigrants, or in other vulnerable and marginalized groups and will expand over time to more people and with worse outcomes once "othering" people has become normalized. 3/4

An important part of "never again" is not forgetting and seeing recurring reminders of what happens of what happens when we let people create division and dehumanize groups of people. 2/4

Did anything come of this? It's a shame Somerville hasn't prohibited the city using them on city property yet like some other towns have done.

Wow, that's a horrible poll! My answer would be "No, we should have more smaller community schools within walking distance. The city doesn't need a mega school that would require us to also spend money on bussing"
