The net zero businesses accounted for 1.1% of the UK’s total GVA, making it bigger than the farming and advertising and market research sectors. The net zero sector is also expanding strongly, with the 10% growth in 2024 following a 9% jump in 2023. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

I wrote a very short retrospective of 2024 and a longer bit on my 2025 plans on Patreon (it's an open post). Why didn't 2024 work out and what will I focus on for the next year? Read all about it... https://buff.ly/4b4Pq3U #gamedev

Auschwitz was liberated 80 years ago. My great-grandfather was tortured there for resisting the Nazis in Poland. He survived and wrote this book about it. Growing up, I never imagined that by 2025, ignorance, fear, and greed would bring the far-right back to power worldwide and fuel new genocides

We’ve been working with Poncle on bringing online multiplayer to Vampire Survivors with @coherence.io. An amazing game I have a hard time putting down, and a very interesting technical challenge. Here’s more news from Poncle about their upcoming features and a wrap up of 2024: t.co/UWmvEn3Bzs

Had a lot of fun with Daniel Benmergui’s minesweeper-like, Dragon Sweeper! danielben.itch.io/dragonsweeper

Today I'm modelling the Gothenburg Botanical Garden in 3D.

each year at the end of the year, since 2015 or so, i’ve been making my own personal ”fav albums of the year” playlists. they tend to get huge, even if i only get to pick one song per release, but it’s always worth it. anyway here’s the latest one. so many recommendations:

amazing article! opened my eyes to a lot of things that i've only vaguely knew about

We get asked a lot about our old mobile games, like Ittle Dew and Card City Nights on smartphones. Why were they taken down? Truth is these appstores remove apps if we don't keep updating them, and if we kept doing meaningless updates for all old apps, eventually we wouldn't have time for new games!

Of all of these, I wish more people would play Ultros. It's more visually interesting than almost any game I've played in a while, and it has a fun take on a run based Metroidvania. It's a game that has a lot of personality, while also having a high level of craft, which is rare Play on a big 4K TV

If your business model doesn’t work without breaking the law, Sam, then you’re not in business. You’re in organized crime. futurism.com/the-byte/ope...

Manahex 1.5 is out on Steam store.steampowered.com/news/app/277... and now also itch e-svedang.itch.io/manahex

20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it. The law only ever serves capital.

There's a non-insignificant number of people working in games media who are old enough to remember the job being part of a wider movement, to distance the act of writing about games from the practice of selling them. Seeing the tide wash back in on that, despite our best efforts, fucking sucks!

96% of children in Gaza feel that their death is imminent and almost half want to die as a result of trauma. 92% of the children in the survey were “not accepting of reality”, 79% suffer from nightmares and 73% exhibit symptoms of aggression.

I sent the Dreams on a Pillow press release to pretty much all games media out there, but it was only the smaller websites that ran the story about a Palestinian dev risking his life to make a game about the start of apartheid, as that very same occupation tightens a noose around him. Discouraging.

Open for work! Unfortunately, I just found out that all funding and grants for my 2025 projects are canceled. Would love the opportunity to continue the musical journey started with #Ultros. Comfortable with #GameMusic #GameAudio. Retweets appreciated linktr.ee/ratvader

As a guest lecturer, it's always a bit hard to know what will provide most value to students – inspiration or techniques? In contrast to recent years, my talk this time will be super practical and focus on strategies for prototyping, playtesting, and how to develop/tune your game.

On my way to Chalmers to give a guest lecture. We will also play "A Series of Interesting Choices", my game for practicing game design: www.eriksvedang.com/aseriesofint.... It's always a treat to see what the students come up with!

Just found a "parental leave diary" on my hard drive that I apparently wrote for 8 months straight and then promptly forgot about. I have absolutely no idea what I've written, this is exciting :D

A few months ago I spoke about a game I'm assisting on where we have a plan for if the creative director is captured or murdered. This is that game, and Rasheed is that Creative Director. We don't know how the game affects his safety, but he wants to go through regardless. Any support helps!
