I long ago started talking to the phone in speaker mode rather than having it to my ear in no small part because it gave me a literal sense of distance for just the reasons you describe. I fly my introvert flag high πŸ™„.

Downloading a 'silent' ring tone & making that my default ring & then assigning chosen ring tones to the people I wanted to answer made life much more bearable - as someone who grew up with dial phone. My Apple phone also has the option of announcing who is calling if they have ID. No ID no ring.

This country would benefit from an actual opposition party that stood for something more than large donor checks

Things could be worse, you could be my age & feel that things have gotten progressively worse since 1980. OTH I can still summon the memory that my grandparents generation voted 4 times for FDR & the New Deal. Such things are possible again. Nothing beats feeling helpless like active resistance.

It's almost as if the 'captains of industry' in our vaunted capitalist system aren't terribly smart outside of a very narrow set of conditions. Shocking isn't it.

Like FDR? Candidates that pursue policies that benefit the vast majority of the public and limit the power of wealth would be a sufficient break with the past for me.

The south had serfs rather than a proletariat so sympathy was an unnecessary expense particularly when the serfs were so easily whipped up into hatred of the less than serfs former slaves

Hitting a pedestrian can be a genuine, unavoidable accident. As soon as the number of pedestrians you've hit on your bike goes beyond one you have to confront the fact that you're doing something wrong.

Thanks. Gotta love knowing that the difference between being in a hospital hooked up to tubes and in my own bed with some advil is a loud voice tho. πŸ™„

AOC isn’t advocating anything out of line with what FDR pushed for that got him elected FOUR FUCKING TIMES. Maybe we should focus on educating centrist voters rather than reigning in AOC.

Although tbh the head of the secret police character is one sinister mofo. "You know they have weapons now" "We're counting on it"

A video that says everything about this regime. A Newark Mayor attempting to visit a detention facility opened in his city without permits is handcuffed and detained by agents. Apparently Ras Baraka is now being held at the local ICE field office. Authoritarianism. (πŸŽ₯ News 12 New Jersey)

The stupendous incompetence of the current regime is an actual glimmer of hope as in hopefully they can't get it together make things a lot worse.

Pretty sure Israel isn't going to be deterred. Killing or displacing Palestinians is its founding principle. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Lib...

Paint is not protection Plastic wands are not protection Protection means obstacles that damage and disable a car beyond repair. Jersey walls were invented for a reason

I'm way past having school age kids but has anyone thought to meet immigrant parents a few blocks from the school and walk their kids to school so the at risk parents can stay out of range the not so secret police?
