Ultimately, if your TV and movie knowledge is rich enough, you can get a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of New York and LA, it’s just that the encyclopedias are all Borgesian fictions only touching hyperreality, nothing anyone would recognize as actual life

No doubt some authors do not care about choosing these details but they are not likely to be writing what we study for literary merit and craft. The actual "I just freakin love ravens" author is probably not on the syllabus.

Yeah, but good writers — the kind we study — make deliberate choices about the character of a scene. Just like a designer would on a film or TV set. There's a difference between a floor-length, cobalt blue, velvet drape keeping out the light and a turquoise sheer floating in the open-window breeze.

But I explain how white nationalism is an ideology — and how delusional it is.
Also, reward me for saying what the MSM won’t: the National Guard was sent to start violence, not quell it.

Really fabulous weird play built around it and other medievalish imagery called Adrift, by Happenstance Theater, highly recommend. www.happenstancetheater.com/adrift

ICE has blanketed the entire neighborhood in a massive cloud of tear gas. The Home Depot and several other local businesses have closed for the day due to the tear gas.
