what a nightmare, Mattilda. so glad they found something, but hate the amount of pain you’ve been forced to suffer. fingers crossed that it’s a clear path to healing now. 💗

There has been cruelty in every administration, but this one is certainly more flagrant about it.

I've been thinking about this so much. How fear keeps people in this “as long as it isn’t me” space, killing solidarity, but some people push beyond, and that's how we'll survive

It is hard, in this world of atomization, isolation, militarization, repression, to think that we can come together & stand up for our neighbors, all together now, not even necessarily the people we know but just the people we care about regardless, we care about them because we care, & here it is 🌷

And I wonder if we have ever considered how dehumanizing it is to consider other human beings as nothing more than collateral damage for the way the world works, especially when the world only works this way because we decided that it does.
"We can't do anything about that" is a choice, not a fact.

It was a joy to work with so many brilliant Rumpus editors and writers. If you want more info on any front, feel free to DM / email me.

This is not unexpected based on other events at the journal, but it’s still heartbreaking. I know that scarcity in the lit community is real. We're watching full mastheads get fired in the industry. I'm not unique. But, yeah, it's hard to see your labor and the labor of others discarded so easily.

Writing reviews for indie presses and their authors over the past year was a privilege. During such a fraught time in the U.S., I wrote under Rumpus leadership that supported writing on the genocide against Palestinians, the violences of ICE, and the ongoing threats to the trans community.
