A little frozen stream at the top of bwlch tryfan. I was too late to see anything but the last few patches of snow down here, and the icy breeze discouraged me from going up to the summit of glyder fach as I’d intended, but it was a nice afternoon out even so.

A chilly frog (probably Rana temporaria) a short distance from a frozen stream in bwlch tryfan. I wondered if it was dead, but it wiggled a bit when I prodded it. I’m surprised it could survive up there in freezing winter weather, but I guess amphibians are tougher than I given them credit for.

Trying to have a conversation about wildlife with a French person who spoke little english, and we spoke little french. My partner, trying to work out what “moth” might be, gave up and just went with “papillon du nuit” (night butterfly) and turned out to be correct, somehow.
