It is, in fact, still the weekend, baby, if you have to deal with all the shit going on PLUS a micromanager boss who is pretending it all doesn't exist. Maybe let us have this one thing? Also, I would very much welcome Canadian overlords.

One of these days, maybe you'll report some good news.

They're just setting it up so they can sell off federal parks to real estate developers. Great work, MAGATs and @washingtonpost.com! You own this.

I can say for myself that I'm not going to be flying anywhere as long as the FAA is so severely understaffed. I'm sure I'm not alone, and I'm quite sure the major airlines have far more lobbying power than I do.

Maybe they ought to frame these polls differently. "Is it cool with you that an un-elected drug addict with no security clearance has taken control over the federal government and your personal and private information and is using it to assuage his own grievances?"

Yes, do keep doubling down on enabling this insanity.

Oh nooooes, who could've predicted this, apart from everyone who was paying a lick of attention and had two brain cells to rub together?!?!

If it makes y'all feel any better, this is at least partly your fault.

I suspect they're operating under the assumption that there won't be elections going forward (or that they'll be fixed), so they're not risking anything. But you'd think they'd want to maintain some semblance of influence.

Of course not! I'm sure I stole it from someone eight years ago.

Yes, the guy whose presence in politics was largely fueled by his questioning the citizenship of the first Black president might possibly have an undercurrent of racism.

I appreciate your perspective and work, but I quibble with your use of "blindly." They are targeting programs that help the poor and disadvantaged. That's very much intentional.

One of them was complaining because his company's government contracts are all up in the air. My sympathy was...limited.

You are correct. I have family who thought that very same thing, just assumed he would do normal Republican things and that he was just playing to his base on all the crazy stuff.

Doesn't Trump have some sketchy financial dealings in Panama, which is why he really has a grudge against them?

No comments allowed on your article about the airport controller tower being understaffed last night...now why is that? Bezos said no?

It's OK because if we don't test for these kinds of things, they don't exist.

Yup. This way he gets to hurt people and stay out of prison, all while getting rich, without having to do much of anything. What's not to like?
comment in response to

Agreed. Trump's strategy is to "flood the zone." Only thing to do is to turn that back around on him.
comment in response to

According to MAGAs, the truth is whatever Trump says it is, so no cognitive dissonance there. (They also don't know what cognitive dissonance is.)

Maybe liberals don't want to subsidize a literal Nazi? Also, congrats on writing the most sniveling, sane-washing column I've seen in weeks, and there is stiff competition at the Post these days.

comment in response to

Yes, dealing with "anecdote but not data," too, and the non-MAGA Trump voters in my life didn't think anything terrible happened while he was president (they don't blame him for covid), so how bad could it be now? Except that SCOTUS gave him immunity and there are no adults in the room anymore.
comment in response to
post
Ehhhh, the people who voted for him believed the whole Project 2025 thing was liberal hysteria. It is absolutely what they voted for, but the so-called "non-MAGA" Trump voters live in an alternate universe where he's some sort of normal Republican.
