this is tbc not a "you gotta hand it to LAPD" but "how bad does LAPD think this is going to get that they're trying to distance themselves from Trump."
The thing about a state of exception is it only works if enough security services agree to the Mad King's coup, & any hiccup in that is noteworthy.

16 weeks of Bryan Adams or Wet Wet Wet and you're begging for a change and wondering which idiots left it so late to buy the song.
Alex who?

It depends on how conservative versus libertarian those parties are. Libertarians (paid for by wealthy donors) can reform what they believe can be cut in order to reduce taxes. Conservatives can reform as they are prepared to invest either to build capacity or reduce costs.

Further fuel for the fire to decouple/derisk from Trump's USA.

I was going to start to argue that Tesla could be an outlier due to its exposure but, deep down, you are probably very right.

I have very little time for Vance but the longer he is silent on this the more respect I give him.

I was just going to say something similar. Blair was riding currents that we already in motion. Starmer is seeking to completely reverse course from the previous government but is too much a proponent of not rocking the boat to do anything beyond incremental.

Not sure of the underlying dynamics but from the polling, it looks like Reform gained from SNP and Tory vote whilst Labour broadly held its vote.
Does this suggest that Reform is being used as a protest vote? Broad dissatisfaction but enough centrist votes to not rip everything down. Volatile mix!

We end up with is a lack of safe assets. Does this then precipitate a financial crash similar to the GFC?

It's strategy is to prevent competition rather than learn to compete. Otherwise it would have to invest rather than continue tax cuts for the wealthy (Biden (invest) v Trump (tax cuts)!

MAGA USA has been bashing European economy for decades. It's now realizing that its fallen behind on lifestyle, life expectancy, airplane manufacture, cars, biotech (vaccines and Ozempic) and others. It's bewildered and angry.

Yes. These are not really book reviews but reader's personal blogs.
But, maybe, that's okay.

Increased revenues could be things like the mineral deal with Ukraine. This is why he mistreated Zelensky as he was looking to secure his tax cut extension.

Trump doesn't care how he achieves his goals. Tariffs don't matter where they land so long as they bring in the money. So concessions need to be compensated for somewhere else if tariffs/spending cuts/increased revenues don't match up to the BB Excel model.

Trump seems to have 2 objectives - stay out of jail and increase his own personal wealth. The latter objective is tied up with the tax cut extension. Tariffs are needed to pay for the tax cut extension so the debt doesn't damage asset prices by leading to increased interest rates.

In all seriousness, the response is often that AI will get better with usage - I am not in a position to confirm. Nonetheless whether it is Google Glass or Blockchain, these things seem to have a lifecycle and I expect this to be the case with AI.

What's going to kill Americans first: lack of air traffic controllers or the planes. Meanwhile sales outside of the US get more expensive as additional quality checks demanded!

Airbus doesn't have the capacity to make up the shortfall. So I am guessing that global aircraft manufacture declines.

Most of the article wasn't about the Finnish study. I had understood that most spot checks of population in the global south had actually reported overcounts. Can we get more reporting into the Finnish study and more studies to confirm?

The ripples from the upcoming recession will be greater than the ripples from the tariffs. The next 12 months are going to get very unpleasant for the whole world.

Reading the first Murderbot book, I found the concept (of Murderbot) more interesting that the story. I assume that this makes it better suited to tv?!
