I am not a programmer so I’m just spit-ballin’. Beyond normal branded swag you could offer fidget toys, planners that might be specifically helpful to coding or project management, maybe items that would help with environmental accommodations. Maybe workbooks/ logic puzzles/tactile learning tools?

As a consumer who plays a ton of indie cozy games bad monetization is not just in big corporate game studios. Js.

I think my biggest gripe though is overly pricey monetization of games. Especially in free-to-play games that charge the price of a whole game for 1 outfit. There is definitely a balance and I know it’s probably not an easy one to deal with but there are studios that handle it better than others.

Overly grindy gameplay for no purpose like battlepass type rewards (ddlv). Animation locks (im looking at you animal crossing). Irl time scales. I don’t like items that have very little purpose. I prefer my materials stay consistently relevant and usable throughout gameplay.

Yesss hate in Stardew like games that you always seem to mismanage your first spring and have to wait a whole year to fix your bundles or buy the festival stuff because you didn’t save enough money

When the core gameplay is getting to know villagers but their dialogue is repetitive and boring. Especially if I’m married/dating them. I wish more games focused on the relationship with characters after marriage. It often feels like an afterthought.

As someone with ADHD: quests with deadlines, anything that disrupts my focus like day cycles or small inventories. overly complicated mini games (if it takes me 5 min to craft 3 food I’m not doing it palia). bad qol inventory: no sort, deposit same, deposit all, or having to put crafting mats in inv

I’m generally not a fan. If a game does have a mechanic like this I prefer ones where the tool is less efficient until repaired instead of totally useless or fully breaking like Minecraft. I will also hoard items and not use them if they will break. 🙃

Honestly, I am glad I got off FFXIV Twitter. It was full of dramatic nasty people (even though there were nice people too). I purposefully did not seek it out here. If you need to I think unfollowing some of it is ok. You miss the juicy gossip but meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

TLDR: they don’t credit their artists, they pay them poorly, the working environment seems toxic, and they released a broken product to switch right before Christmas and put it on sale so a lot of people would buy it and it’s still not fixed. youtu.be/ouSWPM4jfUY?...

On a sort of related note I’m tired of only having dating prospects in games who are barely legal. I’m almost 40. Pls I am begging game devs let us date the parents/adults 😂
