‘Fawning’ is a response where a person gives a servile display of exaggerated flattery in order to gain favor or advantage. AKA: ass-kisser, bootlicker, toady, suck-up brown-noser, etc.

The attorney for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man who was accidentally deported to El Salvador: "There's no reason that this case needed to become a national issue." I beg to differ. While I agree that it's the government's fault, everyone should know what they're doing to this man.
