So glad to hear that! The Thompson Extension is definitely a huge inspiration, and I’m aiming to make the game feel unique from others in the genre. Getting close to beta! 😁

100% true. I’ve worked in the industry specializing as an artist for over 20 years and when I started indie dev, it was like I went all the way back to the college years. Though I will say, it’s euphoric learning so much and expanding my own skills… you can definitely start to feel stuck in AAA…

It’s really got those vibes! The blinds transition and B&W pixel art look great. This art style does horror in such a unique way, I love it!

I used to make little horror point and click adventures in HyperCard and dang you really nailed this!

Oh I didn’t know they got the go-ahead, that’s wonderful! I’ll always count myself lucky to have worked on that game, and it was incredibly fun to work on. I’m glad it’s still bringing joy to some players!

For sure, the community around it was the best part really. They’re a cool group. Someone usually reaches out to me every few years to ask a technical question about the engine to help them maintain the game. MMOs are difficult to keep running even when they’re popular, I’m impressed by these folks.

I know that feeling. I worked on City of Heroes…

Nice! I remember thinking they looked magical as a young kid haha

Yes same here! Such an amazing engine.
I love the premise of Benign Land, delving into Irish history and lore. I considered making a game based on that lore as it’s so rich and is underserved in games.
I love that walking simulators are popular right now. Environments can be the main character IMO

Thank you! I’ve heard that from a couple folks and it was purely accidental, but that show was cool so I’ll take it haha.
If you don’t mind me asking, which engine are you using for your game?

I have these nightmares still as an adult. Is that bad? LOL

Agreed! Most of these places don’t feel like they have a “center”, so you’re always wondering where you’re supposed to be.

I really relate to the strange nostalgia. Certain architecture or wall materials, even paint colors sometimes trigger it even though there’s no specific memory to reference.

Cool concept! I’ve always believed the environment can be the main character.
