i think op can be forgiven for not realizing that the behavior described only exists as described in redwoods, but the overall idea of interdependence is still pretty accurate, just not as direct or impactful as described.

consider yellow pines like longleaf, the flammability of their leaf litter and their own fire resistant bark/sap use the spreading of forest fires to prune competition while also adding nutrients and increasing uptake via the biochar, it doesn’t help with establishment, but does promote growth.

i’m not arguing that trees directly share nutrients through mycorrhizal networks, i’m arguing that the overall symbiosis of the rhizosphere creates an interdependent system which some plants can capitalize on, though i am stretching the boundaries of that system a bit.

is root to root grafting and delegation of nutrients within the colony proven in species other than redwood? no, but many species of plants effect the rhizosphere in ways that will directly benefit others of their species in the area.

it is established fact that redwoods use the physical intertwinement of roots to support each other, as is the symbiosis of mycorrhizae pretty much universally, as are symbiotic cycles of soil nutrients. the connection doesn’t have to be purely physical plant to plant connection.

seconding this, if my parents looked more into why i acted exactly this way it would have saved me so much grief. sometimes kids just don’t want to do shit or are forgetful, but sometimes they just can’t communicate what makes it so hard.

i think anyone who has amassed billions through the conscious exploitation of others is insane, but i get where you’re coming from. i think the difference is he’s just less insane in public. they’re all bonkers.

personally, i saw it then too. i started gaining political consciousness freshman year of high school when trump was campaigning, and i can’t express how it feels for this man to rule all political discussion for that entire time. i’ll be 28 by the time we even have a chance at being rid of him.

i think everything zen is a genuinely good grunge song though, in a vacuum at least. the instrumentation is sick, the lyrics are nonsensical but punchy, and it could be a genuinely good mgmt like genre hit/parody if it weren’t all stolen valor played straight.

surely asking for more information with an incredulous tone will signify to listeners that he is not to be taken seriously, especially when he gives no straight answers to said questions. this has never gone poorly ever and totally isn’t how we’re in the situation we’re in now!
