Labour has now presented a new Employment Bill. There are several areas in which it could be significantly expanded, such as workplace democracy & collective bargaining — see @ewanmg.bsky.social’s briefing from November 2024 on the Employment Rights Bill: www.common-wealth.org/publications...

And water bills up 35% over 5 years from Ofwat in London - more elsewhere…

Here’s the article - I think there’s nothing difficult. Price rises can come later. At some point the £3bn loan will be paid for by someone. Meanwhile bondholders are trying to get rich quick. www.mirror.co.uk/money/thames...

Good question - Ofwat said bills can rise by 35% over the next five years. So that's one way. But then Thames Water's also challenging that limit with the Competition and Markets Authority. A second way. And then a third way is that instead of massive bill rises, you could get even more pollution.

Their opponents sadly back the failed status quo of: - thousands of members lost since 2019 - a union staff so demoralised it's repeatedly on strike - starting disputes and failing to win ballots - not a single court case brought to uphold members' rights So vote for progress, and you'll get it!

It's time to end the failed experiment of privatisation. Customers shouldn't foot Thames Waters' bill today. Public safety, health and dignity must come first. See our briefing with @ewanmg.bsky.social 🔗⬇️ www.common-wealth.org/publications...
