This is a part of magical thinking on that end that intrigues me. This is the same energy as expecting that because someone 200 miles away broke their leg, your electricity bill will go down. It's entirely irrational, but a core part of the modern conservative movement ("owning the libs" & all).

This might come across as more than a little blunt, but please bare with me. A lot of people completely dismiss or even hate indie games and what's being unsaid here is they want is something mainstream from major studios with advertising and popular enough that the zeitgeist allows them to play it.

People will refuse to understand this: The vibecession is real. It's not all vibes. It looks invisible but we all know it's the *rent & debt markets that are making it so. Who cares if I got an extra $300 in my paycheque? Rent went up $500. I'm still not making rent. That isn't vibes.

Stephanie Sterling has a great video on why "addicting" as a word in games criticism can be damaging in this exact manner. Addicting/Immersed to them is just about user hours not about user experience.
