I feel that has already happened with 70s/early-80s, or North American computer gaming. I remember people about my age would always write a very NES-centric history.

I wonder if it’s a younger author. I feel like it’d be hard to be a videogame player in the 80s and 90s and think that, unless their only experience is like LJN or Ocean.

Oh are you doing animating tiles when you turn? I remember trying to figure out how Xybots did that

I only remember the late 90s and early 00s but lots of parallels to now, where it was considered too divisive for politicians to touch the subject up to, like, the nanosecond before gay marriage was legalized. I could probably find some ā€œit’s over for Obama because of gay marriageā€ articles.

It shares the same too-fast-hammer and lack of a third level. It’s like how C64 Afterburner is based on the SMS version: I’m guessing in both cases they just got the home version to pick apart rather than a cab.

The media never met a war they didn’t like

I’m usually very critical of people who slam someone right after they die, but for Trump I might do my own roadtrip to pee on his grave.

I try to not vote for people who seem like pro wrestlers or nu metal frontmen

I think before people talked about AuDHD that those things were often considered present in ADHD, like not getting social cues or not making eye contact. I know until pretty recently that doctors just would not make a dual diagnosis. (Diagnosed ADHD in the 80s, but am probably AuDHD)

I think that’s true of a lot of arcade genres, like Pac Man as well.

Yeah I don’t enjoy stealth games typically, and a lot of the implementations aren’t explicit enough about when you’re detected, rules-wise

These leaders don’t care about the people. None of them do.

Have they done X-Wing or Tie Fighter? They could do a new Rebel Assault :P

Genki x Amusement Vision. Pretty stellar team.

Yeah you got nothing to worry about. Most people code worse than an LLM. Also, some of the fruit was lower hanging when comp sci was in its infancy (not to take away from their brilliance).

It’s still pretty buggy but I like that I was able to get some starter code written with no fuss. Once it gets into specific bugs (like the track colliding with itself) you have to have an idea yourself how to fix them. ā€˜Course this is ChatGPT and not Cursor so Cursor might have done a better job

As a C++ defender even I’ll admit the null safety of newer languages is a welcome improvement. But you also have to have the wisdom of when the condition is so irregular that it SHOULD crash (rather than papering over the issue and making it harder to find later down the road)

What are those like? I love Rave Racer but haven’t messed around in first gear much Favorite weird RPM bug is Stunts
comment in response to post
I wish more racers had clutches that let you rev up between gears. When I was devving one last (unfinished, surprise), holding the gear button down was equivalent to clutch in

Yeah I used to say ā€œI’m into traditional shootersā€ and at some point that started being too confusing

Democrats don’t ingratiate themselves with the crazies on the left, where the right can’t seem to get enough of it.
