remember Krisknight? Yeah, Krisknighters used to argue in much the same ways as Carolknighters do. Carol is too much of a known entity. Her being the Knight requires contrivance. Dess is as opaque as Gaster, she can be anywhere and have turned into anything. Occam's razor, etc

lastly: we get the Knight in a chapter where non-loreheads are finally introduced to Dess outside of vague references. Raise Up Your Bat is straight up about her. Carol is involved, sure, but it really feels like CarolKnight is a consequence of 6 years of 'ho is da nite?!?!'.

further: if Toby wanted CarolKnight to be the interpretation, why didn't he bother adding extra dialogue if you beat the Knight in ch3? Even a single added '...' from Carol to convey her displeasure with the Soul's antics. CarolKnight just doesn't seem intended by the narrative as presented.

It's not about the timing. It's about how the story is presented to us. We leave the house, go to the church, and the first person we see is the Knight already waiting for us. If Toby's intent was CarolKnight, he would probably have made sure you can't beeline it and get the idea she can't be there.

you can go an extra step and lop off comment sections with a separate extension. That is downright blissful. I've felt little better than since I killed the youtube comment section, my productivity increased tenfold (it's not hard to multiply small numbers)
