We cannot let the goal posts be moved and, equally important, we have to recognize when we are unconsciously allowing them to be moved in our own reaction to current events. The question isn’t just what’s happening; it’s whether we recognize it for what it is.

One of the pseudo-analyses making the rounds is that the GAO "found" government fraud amounting to $233-521 billion a year. This isn't a finding. It's a MODEL, based on arbitrary assumptions that explicitly rejected informed input, statistically valid sampling or data analytics.
