He’s been tremendously tremendous for so many s**thole countries (a technical term used in diplomatic and, more broadly, Nobel-worthy circles). Nambia alone should have earned him the prize.

When they arrived at his destination, the still shocked Frenchman got off, his legs wobbling. As he paid, he told the driver « we were really lucky », to which the driver replied « Indeed. Green lights all the way ». That unassuming courage and irony and is something I deeply love and admire.

In the same vein, I read the story of a French journalist who was riding a taxi home from a broadcast at the BBC during WW2 when a V2 hit the road some distance in front of them. The cab was blown sideways by the blast, barely avoiding the smouldering crater as they drove by.

As ever, their « pro life » stance does not extend beyond birth.

What Labour should be doing is creating a new narrative about immigration - about welcoming people who make a contribution but reducing the numbers who don't. Pretending to be super tough pisses off liberals and won't be believed by Reform voters.

Ghaaaah! This is all so demeaningly stupid. It’s like watching a macaque play chess.

Imagine having to respond to such inane rubbish. The spiteful pettiness. The quote marks around « acclaimed university »… And this from the « Education Secretary ».

Baselessly dismissive statement. As a person of reason which I hope you aspire to be, it is a pity to reject ex ante opinions expressed in good faith by intelligent people - by which I refer to Haidt’s. You may ultimately disagree, you will benefit from hearing it.

Ah, so that’s a “no” then…

The relationship has served all sides very well for decades. Europe has unfortunately let itself become complacent - never good in a relationship - and will now have to adapt itself to the new reality. No way back. Invigorating. Onwards!

It’s amazing that the negative impact seems to boil down, in his view, to the adverse effect of certain policies on share prices.

This is such a non-sequitur. I wonder if he could point to at least a couple “things” that the president has done so far that have benefited the American citizens, strengthened America’s position in the world and the order on which American prosperity was founded over the last 80 years.

No big surprise. Supply shocks - when a country is cut off from goods and services - are typically harder to mitigate than demand shocks, in which demand drops but can otherwise be stimulated or the government can pick up some the slack through investment.

You had indeed. I am grateful for your thoughtful foresight. Systemic thinking and introspection are unfortunately way less prevalent than the desire to fool ourselves into believing things will somehow workout.

Aw. Poor fella’s tired! After spending three months shredding with reckless abandon institutions that embody citizen’s mutual commitment and engagement with the world, he has grown weary of plain people’s lack of appreciation for his power grab.
