NEW: After USDA cuts aid to food banks, one charity in WV tries to make lunch out of craisins, crackers and vegetable soup. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/u...

The chief executive of Acadia Healthcare, one of the largest providers of mental health services in the U.S., was awarded a $1.8 million bonus to respond to “unprecedented governmental inquiries” into allegations of holding psychiatric patients against their will.

A charity tied to Gov. Ron DeSantis’s wife, Casey DeSantis, gave $10 million to nonprofit political committees that helped the governor defeat a ballot measure.

The executive director of the Texas State Lottery resigned abruptly on Monday in the latest fallout from the agency’s decision in 2023 to help professional bettors in Europe purchase and print millions of its tickets and guarantee themselves a $95 million jackpot win.

Exclusive: Immigrants falsely labeled dead by the Social Security Administration are showing up at field offices with documents proving they are alive, leading staff to reinstate nearly three dozen people over the past week, according to records obtained by The Post.

This is going to be an interesting experiment. I've got this request up now on X, BlueSky and LinkedIN, and we'll see which produces the mystery doc first. If that doesn't work, I'm doing an investigative TikTok dance, which frankly we're all going to regret.

Elon Musk now admits his Department of Government Efficiency will produce only 15% of the savings it promised. But even that estimate is inflated with errors and guesswork. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/u...

A DOGE MYSTERY! I'm trying to find OPM request for proposal #47QFEA24K0008. DOGE says they saved $318,310,328 by cancelling it. But OPM won't release this doc, and it's not listed in govt databases. Free @nytimes coffee mug to anyone with a copy! I'm at [email protected]

DOGE Is Far Short of Its Goal, and Still Overstating Its Progress Via our colleagues @fahrenthold.bsky.social and @jsvine.com www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/u...

NEW: DOGE is falling far short of its goals — and still drastically over-stating its success. Here’s why: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/u...

The IRS has agreed to share information with ICE to help locate people for deportation, court records show, a fundamental change in how the tax collector uses its tightly regulated records. nyti.ms/3XQ9vWk

NEW: DOGE deletes more than 100 entries from its list of cancelled leases. Suggests it is losing some of the internal battles over what offices to axe. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/20/u...

NEW: DOGE reverses change that made its claims near-impossible to check. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/u...

THREAD: DOGE's "Wall of Receipts" is one month old this week. But the largest item on that list has always been wrong. Here's how:

Elon Musk said @doge would be “maximally transparent.” Now, after posting data riddled with errors, it’s backtracking from that pledge. www.nytimes.com/video/us/pol...

I’ll be on @cnn.com in just a few moments to talk about this story.

How often has @DOGE gotten its facts wrong? Watch this visualization of its errors, from the @UpshotNYT. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/13/u...

NEW: DOGE backtracks on promises of transparency, making its new errors harder to find. (We found more anyway) www.nytimes.com/2025/03/13/u...

New: DOGE sought access to a sensitive database kept by federal child-support office Powerful system contains income info, Social Security numbers for *nearly all U.S. workers* DOGE initially rebuffed by a career civil servant who questioned legal authority More TK w @jeffstein.bsky.social

Top of @nytimes.com app and website right now. Trump critics muzzle themselves because they are afraid of retaliation, including physical threats to their families. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/06/u...

It's been 6 weeks since the inauguration and Trump still has not disclosed a single donor to his transition, despite a written promise to do so. His transition co-chairs and the WH press secretary won't even respond to queries about the matter. My story: www.nytimes.com/2025/03/06/u...

NEW: DOGE gives up on one of its most bizarre claims: it is no longer saying it "canceled" a contract that ended in 2005. But, at the same time, the group resurrected a very large mistake it had just deleted on Sunday. The latest on Musk's error-plagued effort... nytimes.com/2025/03/05/u...

I’ll be on CNN’s @ac360.bsky.social in a few minutes to talk about this story.

I’ll be on @msnbc.com in just a few minutes to talk about this story.

Even after the deletions, DOGE's data still contains errors. It still, for instance, claims credit for saving $53 million by cancelling a Coast Guard contract....which ended in 2005.

MORE DOGE DELETIONS... Elon Musk's error-plagued effort has deleted about $4B *more* of the savings it claimed on its "wall of receipts." The total amount it claims to have saved has shrunk from $16 billion to $9 billion. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/03/u...

DOGE has quietly deleted the biggest “savings” it once celebrated — but its list of savings is still full of errors. Why DOGE’s data is so wrong, and why it matters. www.nytimes.com/video/us/pol...

NEW: DOGE claims credit for “cancelling” contracts that actually ended under George W. Bush. We found new errors that vastly inflated what it has saved. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/02/u...

NEW: Voice of America is in upheaval. Journalists are facing HR investigations for comments critical of Trump. One of VOA's highest-profile journalists was put on leave today after a Trump aide called him a traitor. And the White House bureau chief was reassigned. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/28/b...

This was a really good story by @washingtonpost.com's Emily Davies.

I’ll be on @msnbc.com with @nicollewallace.bsky.social in just a few moments to talk about this.

NEW: DOGE quietly deletes the five largest spending cuts it had been celebrating last week. All of them contained errors that wildly over-inflated how much had been saved. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/u...

DOGE’s accounting of its “savings” is riddled with sloppy mistakes. The five largest cuts that it listed on its website earlier this week were all incorrect — making the savings look far larger than they were in reality.

DOGE's only public ledger is riddled with mistakes. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

The biggest line item on the site of Musk’s cost-cutting team appears to include an error. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/u...
