they kinda brought it upon themselves, which is different.

this principles is enshrined in the practices and culture of the platform. Now, we will never know, but Iā€™m glad that we donā€™t risk finding out through some horrific mismanagement coming to light or somethingā€¦ That being said, I want to repeat, I am not happy about the situation. I just think +

production with hundreds or thousands of $$$ already spent for production. I also had extreme doubts about AmaZineā€™s ability to actually deliver on a project of this scale and with this many risks. Kickstarter does not give any guarantee that the provider will deliver on their promises, and +

benefit from their hard work in a charity projectā€¦ Itā€™s backwards on so many levels and I feel extremely conflicted about it. On the one hand, any fan project getting shut down for IP reasons makes it harder for other projects to thrive. On the other hand, better now than partway through +

There is surprisingly few reviews onlineā€¦ the one Reddit post I found said they were just ok, some colour accuracy issues, someone mentioned theyā€™re made in China.

I donā€™t think that would be possible as thereā€™s like a full meter of snow outside LMAO I live in Canada. Vet said it might be that some snow got in his ear while playing outside (which is def possible), since his ears are very clean.

Thatā€™s great to know, I didnā€™t look into how long it would take for KS to decide. The email they sent said people would be SOL if the campaign had already ended. Probably, they will freeze the funds until the dispute is resolved.

Theyā€™re ā€œrebrandingā€. Iā€™m convinced thatā€™s the only thing theyā€™re doing, as Iā€™ve been sent some screenshots and theyā€™ve promised the contributors they wouldnā€™t have to redraw their pieces.

for reporting them if some did, maybe some people thought it was the last recourse to get through to them. Still, I donā€™t think it ever is a good idea to report fan projects for copyright infringementā€¦
comment in response to post
That being said, I want to clarify that I have not reported them for copyright infringement. Every project that gets taken down for copyright reasons harms the fanzine/fandom creator economy and actively hinders our ability to create the content we want to see in the world. I donā€™t fault people +

The whole idea that KS is somehow safer is ludicrous. KS TOS clearly state that pledges are basically investments, what happens with it after youā€™ve placed your money is none of their business. Your return is not guaranteed in any way.

Because if I was WOTC, the only way this would fly would be if all of the recognizable artworks were redrawn, but I know for a fact they told the contributors they wouldnā€™t have to redraw their pieces. Plus, many backers would likely ask to cancel their pledges in this case.

the full funding period without getting thisā€¦ Bc someone was gonna come across it at some point or another, and WOTC do NOT fuck around with this kind of stuffā€¦

Every IP claim against a fandom project makes it harder for fanzines and the fandom creator economy to thrive and offer some much-needed variety and creativityā€¦ If some people reported them to Larian/WOTC or they found it on their own, itā€™s not on me. šŸ¤· Imo theyā€™re lucky they were able to last +

With amounts of money like that it would actually be enough to sue over. So hopefully they just cancel the project because this rebrand wonā€™t fly imo. The cards still have the charactersā€™ faces, and they gathered all of the money already.

The worst part is, as I told you, if theyā€™d just done it on bigcartel like anyone else instead of using KS, Iā€™m sure it would have flown under the radar. With KS, they were basically hanging a giant, flashy neon sign that told WOTC ā€œweā€™ve made ā‚¬50,000+ off your IP!ā€

15% but thatā€™s still a staggering amount of money and orders to handle for only two peopleā€¦

It is truly a moment. I think last time I checked the campaign it was like ā‚¬50k or so? And alsoā€¦ fun factā€¦ the IP belongs to Wizards of the Coastā€¦

I wish I had the energy to write the horniest shit ever right about now, unfortunately my work is actively chewing up my will to create anything so thatā€™ll have to wait. In the meantime, you have my full support, I will be waiting at the gates šŸ¤²šŸ¤²šŸ¤²
