It’s a #Guest-a-versary! One year ago, we sat down with the brilliant Martine McDonald on the Sista Brunch podcast! Martine is a film curator, teaching artist, and inclusion consultant who’s been at the forefront of social impact storytelling and anti-bias education for over a decade.

The bird site was better when she was on it. Excited for her new book!

NEW — Michael Cox is on a mission to spread positivity through fashion. His streetwear brand, SoGo, represents the pride and allegiance that every Chicagoan has to the city. “When I design my pieces, I want to make a statement.” thetriibe.com/2025/02/stre...

Hi new followers! A bit about us. We're a historically volunteer-led team. Right now we're working on hiring our first staffers to support the urgent, increasing need for ACCURATE journalism on trans communities — and the trans journalists who are often producing that work.

Nothing here to see but some Black women working in film & TV and some JOY.

They can’t have any music either.

People outside Black circles in Hollywood don’t know these women’s names and have no idea how much they’ve done for the culture.

That’s me!

Hey! That's me!

We’ve been preparing season six of the Sista Brunch podcast for months and we’re just a week away from launch! Every story is powerful; every guest inspires me to create more. Please support by engaging on our socials & sharing your reviews/comments on Apple, Spotify & YouTube.

Los Angeles officials on Tuesday moved to cement the city and its schools as sanctuaries for immigrants and LGBTQ youth as the city positions itself to push back strongly against President-elect Donald Trump’s platforms on immigration and gender.

Blocking Nazis, trolls, and fascists doesn’t make it an “echo chamber.” People need to stop gaslighting us into thinking we have to listen to Nazis and debate trolls in order to be informed.

bsky.app/profile/kell... Awesome info for us new folks here.

Kimberly Griffin writes about the perspectives Youth Media Project student journalists shared over the summer as they reported on the 2024 election.

My feed is full of political analysis, so I'm going to try to post good news where I can find it. Good things still happen! It's nice to have a reminder. Here's one story: Harriet Tubman was made a general yesterday. I had no idea she led an armed military operation. www.axios.com/2024/11/12/h...

Just to make this point to my followers: Trump can’t just make a department out of thin air. The Constitution clearly states that departments must be created by law, I.e., by Congress. The necessary and proper clause supplements Congress’s power here. This “department” would be unconstitutional.

people who use goodreads: jeff bezos owns goodreads and if you want a better alternative there is a black woman owned company called storygraph that you can use to replace it. you can transfer all of your data from goodreads to storygraph and have your mind be free of trumpie jeff bezos! win win. 💙

It was my privilege to attend Fanshen Cox's keynote address at the 2024 UW- Madison Diversity Forum. Her work to make Hollywood a more inclusive industry is inspiring, and her experience and advice will, I think, greatly aid UW's efforts to build a more diverse and inclusive community.

Until we get bookmarks we have the 📌

Booked a speaking gig pre-election and shared a preview of the content. All good. Post election was asked not to mention whiteness, privilege or social justice - and ‘instead’ to keep it uplifting. Since speaking truth IS uplifting, turned it down immediately. Here. We. Go.

My trip to UW Madison was so fruitful. Fortunate to learn from folx doing the work in academia that Hollywood will benefit from having exposure to (if I can help it). Onwards ✊🏿✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾

Please use alt-text on your images, and if you need reminders, you can go into your settings & activate the option to have it automatically require you to add alt-text before it'll let you post. Let's keep this place meaningfully accessible.

Pro Tip: On BlueSky, you can go into accessibility settings and make it so you are REQUIRED to put alt text on any image you upload. As someone who easily forgets thing, I HIGHLY encourage this. It has made sure all my posts are accessible, which is so so so important!

We’ve updated our map of extremists, white supremacists, and people who have committed hate crimes in our community. We’ve got threepers, and some GDL/Cuckwork crew dipshits around here. Two of the threepers took down their flags after we first shared our map. 🤣

don't comply in advance, don't despair in advance

If you want to support the organizations that provide the resources to respond to the current moment, these are the publications, research collectives, and nonprofit organizations that monitor, research, and provide analysis on the far right and extremist movements. go.bsky.app/Cyy1oTg

6 months ago I agreed to give a keynote at a diversity forum in Wisconsin w/out thinking of the timing. Traveling there from LA I am right back to 2016 - stomach turning in the airport knowing I’m surrounded by people who voted for him. Grateful for the reminder I’m not alone. #AddtoBlackSky
