the op-ed being killed by the judge’s order here is entitled “Secrecy and Deception Erodes Public Trust” indeed.

People are often inclined to think that, if they’ve done nothing “wrong,” they won’t get caught up in the government’s surveillance dragnet. But in simply exercising your First Amendment right to criticize the Trump administration, you, too, could be placed under government watch.

if you want artists to make weirder art, you have to create stable living conditions that allow them to. homogeneity isn't a matter of artists lacking culture-- there are many soulful artists out there-- it's a matter of unregulated corporate dominance combined with artists who cant afford to create

Spurious claims of antisemitism are alarmingly used both to silence critics of Israel and to shore up support for the far right. I wrote on how this dangerous mix undermines our joint fight against all racism www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Today we're looking at artistic interpretations of Judith, the Hanukah heroine-- in Old English and queer anticolonial poetry, in deeper cut art, in music (hey @ohaliciajo.bsky.social!) -- bc who doesn't love a a feisty heroine, a sharp blade, a multipurpose snack bag and a happy ending??

AI is such a perfect distillation of capitalism: a massive dedication of resources to make and maintain a product that no one needs, prompting companies to desperately try to create demand they can then supply, ultimately deteriorating our ability to think, create, or explore.

Fucking hell... Seriously, there's no going back from this. If it were not from Haaretz, nobody would believe it. Worse part? Nobody fucking cares. archive.ph/NVG4p#select...

Punishing Luigi as heavily as possible to frighten everyone into submission instead of just giving the people healthcare is a choice….

When you are ready to close the old utility drawer of worn-out D.C. bromides, & you’re ready to understand what really has happened in this country over the past 10 years and how it led to the results of this election, you get this kind of nuance, clarity and scope. open.substack.com/pub/eladneho...

Vanishing tech is one of the oddest problems in historical preservation... the 20th century saw a mass proliferation in means to record so much of existence from every day ordinary to the epic yet that evidence of events is vanishing for myriad reasons... which is why the Internet Archive matters.

Today felt like a good day to announce we are on Bluesky! Oh and...

Capitalism. Provides nothing of value. Makes the 1% rich. Obscenely rich.

someone should write an incredible devil in the white city style book about czolgosz, the assassination of william mckinley and the 1901 pan-american exposition in buffalo. i would read the fuck out of that

Nikki Giovanni staunchly supported trans folks, especially trans youth. Her encouragement is a balm. “I think the transgender kids are the bravest kids right now that we see; they're as brave as my generation was in breaking down segregation.”

Now would be a good time to read up on grand jury resistance. They are what prosecutors use when they don't have a case and need to go fishing for information or intimidate activist networks. They're about as undemocratic and unaccountable as it gets. From the NLG: nlgsf.org/grand-jury-r...

I think it would be a good idea

Olayemi going with the fire yet again.
