Rustaveli Avenue is blocked for the 92nd consecutive day of #GeorgiaProtests 🇬🇪 Georgians keep fighting for their birthright to be a part of the big European family 🇪🇺

It's a weird time to be an SFnal professional with a moderate amount of success. You look at what the techno-bros are making of the material they claim to love and…really? _That's_ what you took from Star Trek and Star Wars and all the comic books and novels? That? Right there? Really?

I went down the Buffy rabbit hole after the very sad news about Michelle Trachtenberg. I stumbled across the fact that James Marsters and Juliet Landau (Spike and Drusilla) regularly meet up and do appearances in character, and I just absolutely love that they are still working together ❤️

I promise you that doing something about it, however small, will make you feel better than posting about it.

Oh, man, not Gene Hackman. 2025 can just fuck right off. Okay. Let me tell you a little bit about Gene Hackman...

You can’t make this stuff up. Trump supporters spent the past few years obsessing over an apparent sex trafficking cabal in charge of our country. And yet one of the first things Trump seems to have done, apparently, is push to get the Tates, charged with sex trafficking, released from Romania.

When I was talking a lot about getting prepared for FEMA cuts and trade war, someone told me apologetically needed to mute me because it was stressful hearing about preparation they couldn't afford to do. That's a huge stress right now for ALL of us, I think-- there is no getting fully prepared.

Arizona AG Kris Mayes, New Mexico AG Raul Torrez, and Oregon AG Dan Rayfield will begin holding Community Impact Hearings — a national series of townhalls "to hear from the public about the impact of federal firings and DOGE funding freezes across the country." The first will be in Phoenix March 5.

Listening to the press conference in Lubbock, Texas regarding the child who died from measles. They have over 20 patients with measles in the hospital and some have severe symptoms. Vaccination is the best prevention and they are holding some free vaccine clinics. www.kcbd.com/2025/02/26/w...

This is in the lobby of the building i teach at on M/W. Its taller than me and im 6 even. Anyways i need y’all to look at this literal cunty Mother Hen

There’s a great quote in THE MARK INSIDE where a 1920’s con man says that the perfect victim is not a stupid man, but a man who’s made his fortune in one specific field, because these men assume they’re brilliant in all other things and believe they can’t be fooled.

ok bet let me go pitch him a bunch of columns about the personal liberty to form a labor union in order to obtain wages closer to the value of one’s labor within free markets

Pie-dish beetles (Helea spp.) are so cool. They use their exaggerated flanges a bit like a shield to fend off predators. We see lots of them in the mallee #Coleoptera #WildOz

The large clinical trial of a new Covid vaccine pill (not shot) was halted by RFK Jr www.aol.com/multimillion... The Covid nasal vaccines may be next up to be axed.

BREAKING Project 2025 leader and current OMB head Russ Vought directs all agencies to create plans for large-scale layoffs ("Reductions in Force") by March 13.

History is repeating itself. There were more LGBTQ people removed from government during the lavender scare than were suspected communists during the red scare. They only really taught the latter in history classes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavende...

Last night, every single swing district Republican voted to cut Medicaid so they can shovel cash to their billionaire backers. If you’ve got an R representative, call now to let them know you’re furious: indivisible.org/resource/cal...

DO IT!

There’s this weird glitch in the Matrix where money spent on federal services ends up in the hands of working class Americans. It’s hard to imagine, but it happens.

Thanks to @phragma97.bsky.social for this cool #TeslaTakedown art for socials and printouts. đź‘Š

This is your regular reminder that government mandated backdoors for end-to-end encrypted comms are bullshit, make everyone less safe, and should be resisted at maximum volume.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote. There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.

Tomorrow morning, make sure you call your Democrat rep and thank them for actually showing up and doing the work. If you're feeling rage, sadness, spite and distress, direct all your emotions on the ones causimg all this untold misery: The GOP.

If your two did what you wanted you might call them and thank them even. I know it's easy to be snippy to say it's their job but that's how how human brains work and being criticized for not doing enough and then being criticized for going hard isn't how you shape behavior

The National Parks absolutely will be privatized and sold if the Musk/Trump junta retains power for much longer.

Yep. I have ample criticism of Dem strategy but this one was the GOP keeping their majority in line. And it's not so much they passed an actual budget; more like they passed 'concepts of a plan,' and they hope the next steps can be worked out. That won't be easy for them. There's plenty more to do.

Republicans don't want to face their constituents because they new their policy agenda of billionaire tax cuts, Medicaid and SNAP cuts, rollback of consumer and environmental protection laws, and "Let Elon's Hitler youth freeze funding" is unpopular. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

Live in a district with a GOP Member of Congress? Below is a link to some sample scripts on how to talk to their offices about proposed cuts to Medicaid funding…

Breaking News: Man from Ohio who rose to prominence exploiting his familial connection to Appalachian Kentucky has harsh words for immigrants that maintain ties to places they don’t live.

Through the "Voices of Gaza" series I attempt to center the lives of people who have become a political symbol, but who themselves are increasingly abandoned as they put together the pieces of worlds destroyed by genocide & occupation. I'm consolidating the links here.

This is disgusting. Democrats like Hochul are validating the Right’s playbook: dictating the terms of higher education decisions and destroying academia in the process.
