A James Bond TV show for a streaming service in 2025 is gonna be insufferable. Just 10 episodes of a guy that doesn't call himself either James Bond or 007 yet and then in the final episode, he orders a martini, shaken not stirred, and we all politely clap and Season 2 takes 5 years to come out

The next Bond movie will be titled "Time to Die Mister Bond, Handcrafted Artisanal Film Movie for Men – Perfecf Christmas Gift and Funny Realistic Spy Gag, Harmless Entertainment Prank for Kids and Adults, Realistic Vanilla Scent 7.9 Ounce Motion Picture (Pack of 1)"

it's interesting to me how some people look down on fanfiction but praise things like star wars companion novels, etc. like what do you think those books are my guy

Some common writing advice is to open with a hook and to kill your darlings, but Peter Pan teaches us that you can also be successful by opening with your Darlings and killing your Hook.

If you are or know any professionals with disabilities outside of the U.S, Blind Institute of Technology is launching an international Salesforce Administrator course The exclusive, fully accessible training program starts on March 20, 2025 Deadline for applications is this Sunday, February 16

growing up reading fantasy books led me to believe that I'd have a lot more instances of finding a hidden diary in my house that transports me back to an ancient land of adventure and whimsy, and I've never really gotten over that betrayal

please include alt text on your pictures of american politicians so everyone can participate in yelling at them. including me, i cannot tell 200 separate 85 year old white guys apart

I take back every time I’ve ever called a dystopian novel unrealistic because I thought there was no way the world could ever actually get THAT bad.

US and UK folk, and I say this with love, PLEASE put alt-text on images especially when they are huge amounts of text relating to government fuckery (of which there is much). With both sides of the pond having a field day demonizing disabled folks, make sure everyone who needs to see the info does

Folks, if you're going to repost political or economic news/opinion stuff it's even more important to stick to sharing people using alt text. If the info is actually important it should be accessible, and if it's upsetting it shouldn't be evading the filters people have chosen to use for themselves.

The wind has changed direction & people have taken it as an opportunity to show their true colours. They claim they’re just being anti-woke but truth is, they’ve been given the excuse to not have to pretend they’re a decent person anymore. What a thin veneer civilised society is.

I try not to be an alt text scold but come on, folks. If you can screen cap a quote from the article you can also copy and paste the words into the alt text.

I have received recent allegations that some stories I have posted on FurAffinity were cases of "the writer's barely disguised kink." I would like to apologize. I did not realize it was disguised

Running a #DisabilityJustice event and posting a graphic without alt text to advertise it... 😮‍💨

One of the most important things you can do right now is start reading a lot of dense books about a niche subject matter that will fully alienate a part of your personality from anyone else except the other twelve people with the same interest.

Going to write a series of Dr. Suess style books for kids entering puberty. First up: “Oh the Places You’ll Grow!”

In 1363 a medieval monk named Henry Knighton wrote about a common problem: "wherever and wherever [jousting] tournaments are held, a troupe of ladies would turn up dressed in a variety of male clothing and mounted on chargers, sometimes 40 or 50 of them". I ask you, where is the Netflix series?

me: "yeah i'm on my iphone, only one audio input and one audio output." goeo: "skill issue. that's why i use linux phone. zero audio inputs, zero audio outputs"

One of my favorite parts of early Linux history is Linus wanting to call the project Freax, thinking Linux was too egotistical. When he uploaded it to an FTP server the admin Ari Lemmke thought the name was stupid so he just changed it to Linux without telling him

This week I’ve watched my friends who have spent their lives working on DEI and accessibility lose their jobs, or be told to erase everything they’ve built. Not just people in gov work, but in other companies too. I am scared for my livelihood at the minimum, and dont know what to expect

Employees in any (US federal) Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility offices will be placed on paid administrative leave 'effective immediately.'" Notice ACCESSIBILITY is in there too. I feel sick. www.cnn.com/2025/01/21/p...

PLEASE if you are posting images of headlines, current events, etc. take 30 seconds to write an alt-text description. Either it's worth sharing w/everyone, or it isn't. Excluding blind, visually impaired, and/or other people who use screen-readers is shitty. This means you, journalists & academics

Please. I beg of you. USE. ALT. TEXT. There are so many great posts, memes, art (of all mediums) that I can’t share because I want my feed to be accessible to all! Please. If anything else, you’ll get more shares!!

Quick reminder, Alt Text is not only a vital accessibility function but also, if done correctly, hella fun.

New friends! Please please please turn on your option that wont let you post pics without alt text. A reminder alt text doesn't have to be paragraphs but it DOES need to describe the image. It isn't just a place for you to hide a joke. It's an accessibility feature that people (me!) rely on.

One thing I do admire about Smurf culture is how each one has an equal and unique role in their society where some of them are actual jobs like Housebuilder Smurf, but then there’s a guy just called Jerk Smurf whose job it is to be a jerk and that makes me feel like I have value as well

The same dudes who fetishize the supposed lost strength and competence of their forefathers want computers to write their emails for them.

Missed opportunity to call it the "Switcheroo"and retroactively rebrand the original the "'Ol Switch(eroo)." #Switch2

Me: Can I pinch resize/zoom to better read this news story on my phone? Local News Site: Bitch, no. That might fuck up the floating autoplay gambling app ad player or the dozen scam paid ads disguised as news story previews. You know, the true content of our site.

A gentle reminder to those who are new to Bluesky. Please remember to add alt text to any images you post. To avoid forgetting to do that, you can go to settings and make it a requirement.

If you’re posting word memes, the least you can do is alt text them.

i really wish people would alt-text the cool shit they're posting so i can repost it for you

Some work to improve the #accessibility of#lemmy, an open source Reddit alternative, that I and many others have been involved in, is now released: https://rblind.com/post/3476242 #a11y #blind #ux

here's a free cheap cooking at home tip for you zoomers: add one spoon full of instant coffee to a cup of noodles, pour in hot water. serve. it's got nutrition, energy, and every spoonful carries a welcome reminder that your death is now slightly closer

I am seeing a lot of accounts using alt text but really poorly, as though they put in a couple of words so the alt text box appears on the image just to ensure the post gets shared. That is shitty. Put information in the alt text so that someone who can't see the image understands it.

Don't tell anyone, but this is the first time we've posted about Bluesky's alt text reminder this year! Find it in Settings > Accessibility and tick "Require alt text before posting."

It’s important we tell our own stories if no one else does. Here is my memory of the Unisys ICON and some ICON games, a computer that only Xennials from Ontario would have used. They were almost all destroyed and no archives or emulators exist. True lost media. postgamecontent.com/post/7717260...

A priest a teacher and a rabbit enter a clinic to donate blood. The nurse asked the rabbit what is your blood type. The rabbit replied "I'm probably a Type-O"

Sheri Byrne-Haber's "Giving A Damn About Accessibility" has great tips on how to deal with people who challenge or dismiss the need for accessibility. uxdesign.cc/giving-a-dam...

It's a new year, which means time for a new commitment to accessibility. - Turn on alt text reminders - Include alt text with all images/gifs/videos - Include closed captions on streams - Be mindful of ableist and saneist language

So there is this thing, and it's super cool! You turn it on and it reminds you to be accessible. It reminds you to either 1. Add alt text Or 2. Get help from a volunteer at alt4me Our brains aren't always wired to remember, and that's ok! /nofeed/

If you don't put attach alt text (descriptive text) to your images you will likely be unfollowed. I'm looking at you journalists/media companies

When people ask if I have any holiday traditions, I send them a link to that year's Hater’s Guide To The Williams-Sonoma Catalog article.

Not that accounts with large followings will notice, but I am just going to unfollow accounts that can’t be bothered to include alt text, over and over, for images they post.

Merry Chrysler! Custom feed is up and running (for testing) :-) The premise of Alt Text Hotties is simple: - be a person - post a selfie - include alt text in your photo Using alt text and promoting accessibility is hot! bsky.app/profile/did:...

hey, gentle reminder that alt text helps sight-impaired people and also helps clueless idiots such as myself who have no idea what that image you posted is from

I'm seeing a lot of posts lately that don't have ALT text on them. Folks, please add it and help with accessibility!!

Guys reminder to PLEASE use ALT TEXT on your art, there is so many visually impaired people on this app who really need it.
