The obvious solution is to hire some, and then fire them.

LIBERTY DEFEATS GOVERNMENT APPEAL AS COURT RULES ANTI-PROTEST LAWS ARE UNLAWFUL This should be on every UK News channel. If they won’t report it I’ll do it myself

Update: Radio 6 tell us that Reform’s great DOGE plan is “calling in auditors” to the councils they take over Councils:

My Daily Mail reading, life-long Tory-voting, ethical, tolerant and deeply compassionate mum, who is not racist will most likely vote Reform. Take note @teamlabouruk.bsky.social. Don’t alienate your base to appease the unappeasable.

Terrific piece by @joxley.jmoxley.co.uk, and exactly right, I think:

Labour hold West of England mayoralty on 25% of the vote. Aaron Banks was 6k votes away from having actual power. If that doesn't scare Labour into reverting back to the original voting system for mayors nothing will.

Hi Labour, rather than learning all the wrong lessons from this election defeat - what about taking some people out of poverty and improving some lives?

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

Great read. Surely the @ukgovernment.bsky.social comms is obvious: Vote Reform and Trumpism happens here. open.substack.com/pub/iandunt/...

Number crunching: Value of reduction in US tariffs for UK companies per year as against EU members v fall in UK exports per year due to Brexit From the new Private Eye, out now.

“Take back control of our laws” so American fascists can decide them for us… I don’t think so. Just imagine if the EU demanded this of us. Intolerable for it to even be on the table. Intolerable to be at this table at all, frankly. Another Brexit humiliation. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

“Trump’s America has forfeited global trust. The world has other choices apart from paying tribute to him and his sycophants now running a once great country with the prime aim of self-enrichment” Starmer says we don’t need or want to choose. Oh but we really do. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

ICYMI: From March 23rd, protestors from both sides of the US and Canada border held a protest against the Trump regime. This is what the US oligarch media isn't showing you. The protests grow bigger every month. #3E #Handsoff #FiftyFiftyOne

BOSTON MASS. 05042025 HANDS OFF ELON. Thousands of protesters have gathered in Boston to take part in the "Hands Off!" rally. It's one of 1,200 other protests unfolding in all 50 states across the country today.

Hands off our healthcare! Hands off our public education! Hands off our jobs! Hands off my 401k! Hands off my neighbor who has committed no crime! Hands off those Congressional seats that we are coming for in 2026!

Wow!!!!

After a Saturday night at A&E with a child and a broken wrist, it occurred to me to consider how much the same treatment would cost in the US. A quick Google says circa $6000 without insurance: workrightnw.com/the-cost-of-injury-the-wrist/

Private Healthcare.

So, Le Pen gets banned from running for election because she’s found guilty of embezzlement and her far-right fanclub starts huffing and puffing about whether this is democratic. Err. Yes. If you’re found guilty of corruption, you’re unfit for public office. It doesn’t matter how ‘popular’ you are.

So on brand for The Times to help whip up the victimhood of the right, rather than calling it what it is… Criminal abuse of power. A corrupt politician being found guilty in a court of law. Judges did their job. Le Pen muzzled herself. She is responsible for her own demise. Democracy is safer today.

Hell, yeah.

The thing about all these pieces complaining about Marine Le Pen's conviction is that not a single one of them bothers to explain why someone found guilty of embezzling millions of Euros from public funds should be allowed to get away with it

@uklabour.bsky.social needs to do a lot better. Fast. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Republicans pretend to want “small government,” but the second they get power, they crown a self-proclaimed king and let him rule unchecked.

It might not seem like the major issue, but the historical illiteracy of an American administration complaining that freeloading Europeans haven't done enough to militarily control the Suez Canal is quite the thing, eh?

I don't often ask people to write to their MPs. But I think they might listen to you on this, as it's so jaw-droppingly awful, and they're almost certainly unaware of it. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... Please also write to the Environment Secretary: [email protected] Thanks.

“While drug shortages have become a problem globally in recent years, the UK is facing “a worsening situation” compared with the rest of Europe because of Brexit” Excellent work, Brexiters. Absolutely nailing our sovereign right to be self-harmingly idiotic. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
