Can we just seize the Russian assets already and give them to Ukraine? Good lord just do it

This is a poor headline from the BBC. The US aren't offering a "deal" - they want the minerals in return for support already given. It's straight up extortion.

I hadn’t seen this before, really worrying to see. Currently other AI sources seem to be sensible but time will tell how/if they get corrupted

Good this is in the US RW press. Fact that it’s from Douglas Murray, is interesting. Much harder for them to ignore when it comes from one of their own

I’m cautiously optimistic on this point, but we have our own populist forces to address. Europe needs to forge its own destiny and with the situation over the Atlantic rapidly deteriorating take the baton as leaders of liberal democracy

Unapologetically. ✊🇪🇺

In this troubling times. It’s good to see that people are willing to fight for their democratic rights

This is good news, it would be nice to have Germany too but obvs have an upcoming election. Europe needs a united front. Together we have a powerful economy and potential to be militarily independent.

It’s so sad to see the great hope of democracy sliding rapidly into authoritarianism. Only Americans can correct the path, as Europeans we need to defend our principles, and become the remaining beacon for liberal values

In journalism it's important to reflect both sides, listen, understand nuance,be aware of your bias It’s also important to call out facts that aren’t true Trump suggested Ukraine started the war with Russia That is not true.Facts matter. If you want to end a war,you need to face up to how it started

The best political advice Badenoch ever received was from David Tennant. Every word she speaks makes things worse

Is this a failure on behalf of both the press and the government?? Is there an apathy in the U.K. regarding risks, or would people prefer that UKG increased taxes, just on “someone else”

NEW🚨 More people would oppose than support tax increases to pay for an increase in defence spending, YouGov polling has suggested A YouGov poll that surveyed more than 7,000 adults in Great Britain revealed that 55% of the public would oppose tax hikes www.politicshome.com/news/article...

😂😂

It’s clearer by the hour that Europe needs to work together. In the current situation, Europe is the home of liberal democratic values, with US rapidly turning away. (To be clear US government not all Americans)

It’s bizarre to see no response from US institutions?? Things have gone rogue very rapidly

Since WW2 the world’s democracies with rule of law, have stuck together. It will be interesting to see whether the remaining democratic, law based states (UK,EU, Canada, NZ, Aus etc) will stick together and take a strong stance against the changes ongoing in Washington

Love this thread

Lewis Goodall, "Do you think Nigel Farage could be PM?" Wes Streeting, "5 MPs, I think the Greens got the same. No one's saying Carla Denyer come on down, are you the next progressive PM?" "Let's not get carried away by Nigel Farage.. The guy gets so much air time.. Keep it in perspective"

I see Musk spoke at the AfD launch last night. The party are recognised as far right across Europe, at the extreme end. Clearly this shows the need for other European governments including UK address him and X robustly and rapidly

The UK government has banned the emergency use of neonicitinoid pesticides. There has been much bollocks in the press that the government MIGHT NOT do this. Well, they have. It is the correct action and should be celebrated. Governance is actions, not pantomime.
