yeah i think fatal fury was a turning point for me. i was extremely excited for it after the first beta, but in the lead up to the launch i realised there was no way i was gonna be happy lending it my passion.

players just beg for characters to be more like each other rather than more different. from "please take away this cool powerful thing no one else has" (eg rashid sa2) to "please remove my character's limitations" to "how come X has a strictly better 5HP than my character". please imagine bigger :(

i fully believe it, i've got bad news, it's gonna be even older games too.
you start on the stuff that initiated you. but gradually you realise why people are still playing 3s 25 years later and you want a game that rewards you for having high 4 digit playtime in the genre just to get a rush.

i put a couple hours into labbing the twelve 1 frame link after that video! and made about a dozen people watch the tutorial video part even just for the way it was perfectly edited to the excel saga opening theme.
