They are putinâs base. In the cities he throws money (from oil and natural resources) at the problem by ensuring middle class in moscow and st-petersburg can still have a good standard of living, brainwashes the poor with propaganda and enforces it all through fear via oligarchs.

Thatâs a very good point, because absolutely, it makes a difference. However, this only plays out in larger cities. The rural and remote areas are strikingly poor with little access to what one would consider middle class living standards or even access to non-propaganda information. 1/2

They asked me to pass this on: âNo matter how difficult it is to continue fighting rest assured we won't give up. And we will win. With your continuing support it will be easier and sooner, and, what's crucial, more lives of our brothers-in-arms will be saved".
THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH UKRAINE đșđŠ

Iâd say they were pretty good at gaging where the unwritten limit was. It can unfortunately work for a very long time on societal level over thereâŠ

Not really, people hung on to jobs where there was something hood to steal, worked relatively hard to keep them and took only a small âallowedâ amount, if you exaggerated, youâd lose that income. Again in scarcity, product was worth more than pay raise, you could get way more for it on the market.

Somehow they find ways to channel money into that production niche. Money coming from oil or other natural resources. Workers there will get paid and will fight to get jobs in this sector and will want the war to continue as these jobs will actually make them ârichâ by comparison with the rest.

In soviet union they just stole whatever wasnât nailed down and sold for some sustenance. It was almost expected that you would take a small amount of something you produce with you at the end of the day. With everything being so scarce, you could sell almost anything to neighbours.

In the 90âs during the economic crash people sometimes just got paid in whatever their factory produced and spent their off time selling it on the market. For those with marketable products it was still plausible, for those producing unsellable things or intellectual labor - it was just nothing.

The economy may be worse and worse, but it wonât stop russia from finding resources to continue the war. The idea that economy has an immediate effect on politics is a very western one, presupposing that it results in peopleâs disapproval and/or that such disapproval even matters.

I get on airplanes because I think the crash is unlikely. If I thought it likely, I wouldnât get on one, would I? Itâs not about impossibility, but likelihood

Weâve been hearing about the imminent collapse of russian economy for over two years now⊠Until the west cuts russia off entirely, nothing is going to change, as we donât have another 70 years to wait for economic pressures to have enough of an effectâŠ
