I am on the steering committee of the European philosophy of science association and we are looking for a new editor or our journal: the European journal for philosophy of science. #philsci

SO excited about this workshop on Feminist Mathematical Philosophy in London next week, with friends Jingyi Wu, Cat Saint-Croix, Ray Pedersen, and others! www.jingyiwu.org/fmp2025.html

Check out Dirk Schlimm's great new article 'Where mathematical symbols come from' in our special issue of Topics in Cognitive Science, "Cognitive Technologies and their Histories". onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Over the weekend, I joined colleagues and students at the protest march against Berlin spending cuts. The TU Berlin buildings are in a horrific state of disrepair, yet the CDU-led government has reneged on vital funding for building and renovations.

Abstracts due this Saturday!

Call for papers

Facebook memories reminded me of this interview with Katherine from five years ago about her then-recent book 'How to be Trustworthy'. It's been a very long five years from early 2020 to now, in a lot of ways.

This afternoon @asgeirberg.bsky.social and I will be discussing our paper about the philosophy of LLMs doing maths at the Maths, AI and human cognition online reading group. If anyone would like to join, or just see the draft, let us know! 16:00-17:30 CET (Berlin time), on Zoom.

A new Element on Abstractionism in the philosophy of mathematics by Luca Zanetti and Francesca Boccuni. It looks like it covers a lot of ground, including the ontological and epistemology issues raised, and standard worries such as the Caesar problem and Bad Company objections. Free to DL just now.

I'm on my way to Brussels to the Social Epistemology of Mathematics workshop. (It starts now, but thanks to Deutsche Bahn I am not yet there). Looks like a tasty selection of talks. yhamami.github.io/social-epist...

To understate enormously, it's not the most important thing going on in the world right now, but I do think it's unfortunate that the philosophy Cambridge Elements are taking off, but there's no series that covers philosophy of disability or race, feminist philosophy, or oppression more generally.

Some friends of mine have made a game! Techno Banter is out today! You play a club bouncer in a Cyberpunk city filled with weird and wacky characters. Your job is to curate the best party inside. To turn people away you need to use quips and insults in a battle of wits.

Deadline for this has been extended to 28 February. Please share widely, thanks!

My short story about alien maths (and an abusive research team leader) is up at The Piker Press: www.pikerpress.com/article.php?...

I was not prepared for this horror short to appear on my timeline on a Sunday morning and now I have the existential dreads.

In three weeks time I will be in Brussels for the "Social Epistemology of Mathematics" workshop. Registration is open for anyone who wants to attend: yhamami.github.io/social-epist...
