I got the new one (and at a bargain price too). Very little needed to be done to what is - in my opinion - one of Hornby's best models to date! I gave it a gloss varnish, a Bachmann screw-link coupling and weathering. Have I ruined a limited edition model? Yes. What are you going to do about it?
