Don't forget that the word for protein is literally eggwhite.

Good god you're just embarrassing.

I'm taking the Internet away from you David.

Credit to @munrodeltoro.bsky.social. All it took was a few texts from him to remind me why I love it.

Okay you got me, downloading now.

Don't worry - it isn't weird or parasocial, it's comforting. We've got to hold on to each other or what's the point? I love being called papa bear. Many hugs, whomever you are.

cw: suicide. I'm fortunate to have had so many beautiful people in my life. But I must say, my mother's support after my suicide attempt and in the years of depression and recovery is the sweetest thing I know. She drove me to appointments, held me when I cried, and found me when I was lost.

gayness

Today's Pride music: Tchaikovsky's The Seasons. Tchaikovsky's letters, long suppressed by the Russian state, leave no doubt he was gay. And a sub, apparently. "My God, what an angelic creature and how I long to be his slave, his plaything, his property!"

Oh my God. And all the likes. What on Earth.

Out of the gate with a toughie. One way I push through first-draft jitters is to remember that I've done this before, and I know how it will go: I will write something mediocre, it will get reviewed by peers and leads, and I'll mold it into something good. There's comfort in that.

Ok but I'll just say I'm side-eyeing any of you seriously into that alt natl. park account.

I love when new observations point to new physics but there's something deeply satisfying about finally observing a predicted phenomenon, especially when theory and data appear to be in full agreement.

Oh and sometimes I'll post physics/astronomy news but I've been lax I won't lie. Finding and measuring the predicted gas filaments connecting galaxies and clusters was pretty great stuff.

I mean. Sometimes I'll serious-post and my politics are pretty public but yeah. And I'll add that for me it's okay if sometimes you post your feelings of despair, or of hope, or if you post about terrible news or about birds. If I follow you I don't need you to be anyone but you.

OK but I do have to share this: the doctor was legitimately blindsided when she realised I was in my 50s. She was sure I was no older than 40. Pretty good for the ego.

Home. Not at my best. But - I have people to get me through. And that's something. Actually, that's everything.

It's your best work, in my incredibly humble opinion. It deserves the biggest and best audience it can find.

From where I'm sitting this is a matter of PR more than design. 'Fun' is vague as a design concept but players nonetheless relate to it. An acknowledgment of it in an interview can impact perception of your values, even if it's of minimal value as a design goal.

'Fun' is a vague term and it's hard to chase it as a concept as a designer. But it's also a word players understand on a more intuitive level, and I think it's good to lean into it in public-facing statements.

'Title' to mean 'game' or 'film' occupies the same space in my head as 'content creator' and 'product'.
comment in response to post
I have a physical revulsion to the word 'title' used that way in any case, and he drops it three times in that short blurb.
comment in response to post
I have no issue with that! I was just very confused about the influx.

I am extremely fond of games with perfect tonal consistency - when the gameplay, the music, the writing, the *everything* intertwine so tightly and beautifully that you cannot tease them apart. Supergiant and Bithell Games lead a very small pack.
comment in response to post
Mike, my awe and envy of you knows no bounds. Bithell Games is out there quietly being one of the best, most consistent studios in existence. Also, TRON: Catalyst is so good.

On that note: you do not need to play Wordle. There are a zillion daily word games; my favourites are Semantle and Redactle. semantle.com redactle.net
