Yes, they are really showing the lie of the “few bad apples” theory. I haven’t heard of a single ICE agent quitting or being fired in protest yet.

Not true in this case. The SC law requires all firearms to be loaded with live rounds. It’s in the article.

The article says that isn’t the case in SC apparently. All guns are supposed to be loaded with live rounds.

Capitalism has never been altruistic. Even in its most pure and utopian form as described by Adam Smith, it is driven entirely by supply and demand. We have tried to impart altruism onto capitalism because it makes us feel better, but that has never been true.

Who do you think the left is, the democrats? No, they have not truly been a leftist party for some time. At best they are center-right with a very few exceptions. Many of them just seem liberal in comparison to the hard authoritarian modern GOP. The US has no progressive party of consequence.

Bukele and Trump are cut from similar cloth, they both desperately need to be the most important person in the room. If this arrangement has cast any aspersions (which it certainly has) on El Salvador, and by proxy Bukele himself, then it’s natural that he will look to come off as the good guy.

In the book, professor Snyder actually argues that this view of freedom is not entirely correct. The absence of government in our lives is not freedom, because freedom is not negative. It is not even the absence of physical restraint, as we so often assume in the US.
