Trump cut funding for NIH to "save" taxpayers money. However, according to United for Medical Research, every $1 spent on research funding generated $2.46 in economic activity. The NIH also supports 412,000 jobs. The research SAVES lives. Absolutely DESPICABLE, but I guess we knew that already.
