Whatever else emerges in time about the Delta crash in Canada, one thing is certain: the importance & amazing professionalism of flight attendants who safely evacuated the plane in a matter of seconds.

Totally agree!! Sounds like to me they're going to try to blame Canada. I'm not an aviation genius, but it looks like to me that it had wheels on the ground. I'm not sure that wind shear can be blamed for this.
last night, as i lay intently listening to the wind, i could distinctly make out a pulsing frequency that was being emitted. As I gave it my more acute attention, I was positive of it. So, I wonder who would be emitting frequency at such a level? Who would have the "hardware" in place to do it?
Think about it satellites and disks everywhere. Could this be something being used to sway humanity? Would it affect the ability of airplanes? What would it be doing to humans on the ground? What would the purpose be?
Yes. Sadly, I have taken those Minneapolis to Toronto Delta flights quite often. Never had any issues in the past. It doesn’t help that FAA workers in the U.S. have been downsized. This crash may have been avoided if proper communication had existed between Minneapolis and Toronto.
For instance, if weather or a malfunction is spotted on an aircraft, then the flight would usually be delayed. It appears that now it’s a “free for all” and the few air traffic controllers that are left are just scrambling to make up for those who are no longer working. It’s just awful.
And the aviation regulations that require airplane makers to demonstrate that it is possible to evacuate passengers in a timely manner. The planes are designed for this kind of rapid response. Don’t let the broligarchy regime undo aviation safety.
Maybe there is a solution to all this. Demand impeachment outside of every Republican office. Bring angry Trump voters. Less an half of America knows what is going on. It may be fault of billionaire owned media, but it's up to all of us to share the information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEdL1_zOyz4
It was high cross wind that affects small planes drastically. Most likely it landed on 1 gear that snapped, the wing hit the runway and broke and it flipped the whole plane.
Might have been worse if it was a plane with wing engines.
Training and rigorous protocols save lives. This is the sort of thing Duffy wants to eliminate while he gallivants off to Daytona to watch the co-president waste taxpayer money.
Mr. Buttigieg. You need to be on every legacy media outlet possible to lead the left against maga. Maybe you could wake up the DNC and the House and Senate minority leaders. American democracy is in a fight for survival.
PS - Thank you, Pete, for continuing to pay attention and participate during a time when the silence from your former colleagues has become quite deafening. We appreciate hearing from you.
How much longer will trained professional flight attendants be willing or even able to continue working during these times? I'm guessing not very long at all.
Yes, they did a spectacular job. To those on board that kept their heads, did their jobs, and worked together to ensure EVERYONE got off that plane, THANK YOU!!
Thank you Pete for all that you do. You, AOC and Jasmine should be the voices of the Dems. Get the others off their butts and start fighting for us. @newyorkcitygirl.bsky.social @sundaedivine.bsky.social
Also, I have a collection of their phone numbers if needed.
A passenger shared their story on reddit and said everyone was told to stay in their seats (upside down, mind you). They didn't listen and helped fellow passengers out of their seats. They never heard from the pilot.
No thanks to this shit show the republicans has gotten this country into. I understand that their supporters have to suffer in order to wake up but if I were paying attention totally I would be nuts like them. Thank you Secy Pete for everything!
In the meantime, would you do daily counterprogramming if Dems can force the DNC to give you the platform? (Disappointed Harris hasn’t taken on the task, but I get why.)
Secretary Buttigieg is evaluating a run for Senator from Michigan, and if he decides to go for it, that will require his every waking minute. He will be much more effective against 🍊 in the Senate. There’s a big troll wave trying hard to push him off this track and have him play press secretary. No.
Michigan wants him for our senator. It would be great training as well as a brilliant voice in the senate. From there, it just a matter of time before he is president (following Obama's footsteps).
That’s fair, and good news. But we’re in the middle of an autocoup, and normal politics isn’t enough. The opposition to the coup needs a vocal leader, not a press secretary. The model, for good and bad, would be someone like Navalnyi.
It could be a brilliant piece of politicing. The opportunity to criticize conservative politics & "administration" from a higher soapbox *doubles as free campaigning* for Senator!
I'm sure he'll work hard on local issues too, but a Senator should be knowledgeable about both.
He is already knowledgeable about conservative politics, he grew up in Indiana. This troll swarm is trying with all their might to distract or divert him from that possible Senate run. If he decides to run, he will need every single second of every waking minute to concentrate on his campaign,🧵
none of this playing pretend press secretary stuff. The Rs know he is a huge threat to them as a senator and are making every stupid argument in the book to impede him.
Buttigieg absolutely should run comms for the Dem Party right now. He's the best communicator they have. Take the show on the road to red states, face to face, to reach the people who most need to hear what he has to say. He has the talent to effectively message & help flip MAGA seats in the Senate.
Why is it a troll wave? Seems like a very good person to have out front just now to make some of this stuff utterly clear as day to many lost Americans?
By my count, there were 42 very new accounts posting at once with blank banners, all with the same messaging urging him to do a “daily” briefing, which would have monopolized his time. Trump World/Russia are anxious to keep him out of the Senate, it appears this was an effort to derail a Senate bid.
VP Harris tried to save this country, and she only had 107 days to do it. But so many people had a millions reasons why they couldn't vote for her. She's a private citizen now, and doesn't owe us💩. People should have voted for her and not Trump. I'm Happy she's silent now.
I mean, I’m confused why they aren’t already doing this. It’s almost like the Dems- and I will exempt AOC, Crockett, Warren, and Sanders here- don’t see the emergency here.
Usually when you see mass protest in government, Black people are leading it. But Black people warned everyone of the dangers of another Trump Presidency. Black voters led the charge, hosted many zooms, and begged people to vote Harris. We MASS voted Harris. WE are silent now.
I agree. I think Canadians would love to work with someone as intelligent and thoughtful as you, @petebuttigieg.bsky.social. It would be a breath of fresh air.
“Newsom vowed to start taking state funding away from cities and counties that are not doing enough to move people out of encampments and into shelter.”
I think you’re missing his point of demanding shelter for these homeless people and that he won’t give funding to perpetuate this homelessness.
WN FA thanks Pete Buttigieg for the acknowledgment. When my day is spent rationalizing with Pax A as to why she can’t bring 3 large carryons with her or Pax B wanting to know why we don’t have whole milk for his coffee, this perspective reassures me that the powers that be know why I’m on board.
How about a shout out to the emergency services crews (Canadians) that were on site getting passengers and putting out fires seconds after the crash!! Amazing work to save our fellow Americans!!! Whom we love!
Yes! Thank you, Canadians. I love my Canuck friends. Nothing and no one will ever pull our bond apart. USA will get their shit together and will be back as a good ally.
Canadians proving that caring for each other, family, friend or stranger, is the best of human qualities, as always. Kudos to our Woke exemplifying neighbors. May it rub off on the criminal MAGA cult!!!
How odd to assume they did their jobs to “save Americans.” The passengers were multicultural, mostly Canadian. They did an excellent job saving their passengers.
To say what exactly? That American had a morality and intelligence test on Nov 5 and it failed? That’s the message. And nobody who broke it is doing a damn thing about it it do its BAU. Figures.
As always, Pete Buttigieg steps up to keep the public informed, he has all the qualities required for leadership sadly missing in the 🇺🇸 and most apparent in Congress.
Thank you for making that visible, @petebuttigieg.bsky.social . The people can and do make a difference and that power is so vitally important to recognize.
My cousin is a flight attendant secretary, P and my family is going on vacation next month. My daughter is flying in from Arizona today and I’m so scared to even go on vacation. I’m scared for my daughter to fly home all because of some irresponsible asses running our government.
I have three flights next month to get across the pond. I keep reminding myself that statistically airplanes are still safer than cars. There are car wrecks Every Single Day so they don't make the news. But airplane and train wrecks are newsworthy because they are rare.
They seem to be getting more common, like every day common, since the domestic terrorist Republican administration, and their criminal private citizen minions have taken over.
I’m really hoping some lawsuits come out of these crashes. There would have to be a discovery.
Actually a lot like pilots. 99% of their time is flying that could be or is done by auto-pilot. But when they're needed, they're REALLY needed. Maybe someday those parts of the job will be automated, but that day is not yet.
Well, we could say this of lots of jobs, but the fact is that not even well-trained pilots always react properly in emergencies. They will come a day when machines do it better. They will never be perfect, but they will eventually be better than humans.
I dunno. I doubt any automated flight system would choose to land a plane in the Hudson river. Machines will only do what their designers can anticipate. And Murphy's Law insures that something unanticipated will inevitably happen.
Actually, an optimal response would have returned them safely to LaGuardia. In the investigation, other pilots managed to do that in simulators . . . but only after crashing the simulator more than a dozen times as they tried to work it out. Sully obviously had only one try, but . . .
Those guys and gals always show true heroics. They don’t deserve the bullshit the self righteous have been throwing at them lately. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for a job always well done.
Agreed it always pisses me off how in the past decades
whenever things were going bad for the Airlines multiple unions
Took pay cuts, save the industry. Then when they recover they don't want to do shift for them, forcing them to strike to get back what they conceded. Corporations have no morals
And on a side note you won’t see any of our Canadian government leaders placing blame nor making disrespectful comments just because- the crew and staff were amazing extremely professional and compassionate - that includes the ground emergency responders also
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." Fred Rogers
You’re such a good person. Watching the video you are absolutely correct! That flight attendant in an upside down plane calmly getting passengers out as quickly and safely as possible and 0 fatalities!
too bad you're still all up those yale and harvard DEI hire assholes, maybe if they hired qualified professionals rather than the next available white man this shit wouldn't fucking happen
When I was a flight attendant in the 70s, I had a talk with myself before or during every flight about the things I would do (stay calm, focused, etc.) if an emergency were to arise. It’s very inspiring to see those who put my thoughts into action! Respect!
Yes! Agree! This incident underscores the need for more, experienced Air Traffic Controllers. One report noted crosswinds are common there. ATC actively monitor wind conditions during an aircraft's landing approach and provide this info to pilots. Many people don't realize this is part of their job.
All the people that Orange Capone & Doge Muskrat think are an unnecessary expense 'conspired' yesterday to save 80 lives.
Message to the Oligarchs:
It's the 'little' people who do big things when called upon, not the self-important entitled 1% who most often cower in the face of danger!!!
I don't know if you read these: Please help me: this is information the DNC and every Democrat needs to understand. The last election was decided by social media and the Billionaires who control it:
Absolutely! Now, I want y’all to start paying closer attention when the cabin attendants do their pre-takeoff and landing instructions. Get off your damn phones.
Agree 100%. Their actions in what must have been a crazy situation saved lives. As a matter of fact, all 12 of the badly injured are now out of critical condition and will make full recoveries.
You got that right. I hate to say it but the American people are in for a whole lot of hurt before Trump and Musk are finished. Unfortunately so are we but our eyes are wide open and we will fight🇨🇦
Two of the three major parties are not into the blame game for political gain, the third major party is very much into the blame game for political gain. Coincidentally they’re the party sucking up to FOTUS.
For sure your right on that but Poilievre doesn’t represent the true Canadian spirit, he’s just another Puppet for the American gangsters! Hopefully we won’t be stupid enough to put him in power 🇨🇦
And these flight attendants make a fraction of what the pilots do. They should be paid more, especially considering the importance of their safety training.
A qualified well trained FA is critical. But don’t forget the pilots and years & hours of training & reoccurrence training and all the things they are multi tasking while flying the aircraft. They are a crew - a team. Much more intense training for pilots
I never said pilots weren’t important or that flight attendants should be paid the same as pilots. I simply reiterated the importance of the role of FAs.
There is a huge gender component to this inequity and we all know it. It’s not just about training.
Oh I agree with you. I never mentioned any gender in referring to pilots - Captains, FOs and/or FAs. Qualifications & training are critical & that’s why they are called a crew. The Captain is the last one off an aircraft that’s been in a crash-after he/she walks the entire plane checking every seat
Shout out to @torontopearson.bsky.social airport personell and our #toronto first responders, too. Considering the severity of that crash, everyone connected to #emergencyservices deserves thanks. (Good example of why firing people en masse by email is not viable or smart.)
A widebody, with a full complement of passengers. 60 seconds. That's incredible. Have never forgotten that. I can't even see how tha's possible.
Air France.
People bitch and moan about certain airlines but I can't get over that, the sheer professionalism involved. Not to mention their own safety.
Same airport — I remember a number of years back, as I'm sure you do too, when an Air France wide-body Airbus ran off the end of the runway on landing and careered into a ditch and the highway that runs adjacent to that runway.
It took Air France flight attendants 60 seconds to evacuate the plane.
I know you’re passionate about transportation, but I really need you to be an all hands on deck, campaigning presidential candidate, calling out Trump and his administration in every area; not only on transportation issues. You’re the smartest and brightest one we have.
Incredible work by all staff👌 Had a friend waiting to leave on a flight & she said they were told there was no guesstimate as to when it would go. They were deplaned.
Within hours, things were back to leaving/arriving. She said everyone was just amazing & professional in their handling of it all.

Terrifying. I read the AMA of one of the passengers and they said that all passengers also stepped up to help each other unbuckle and get upright since the few attendants couldn’t do it all on their own. Restored some faith in humanity for me. ❤️
Locals were saying in Reddit that the wind gusts were bad on nearby highways. The other person who made a statement about wind conditions may not have been fully aware of the microclimate conditions.
I’m sitting back and letting the experts do their analysis.
The fire chief at YYZ said a dry runway and no cross winds. From the landing video, it looks more like the landing gear but my expertise is just as a passenger!
The fire chief at YYZ said the runway was dry with no cross winds. The video of the landing showed a fairly smooth landing until it hit the runway. Did the landing gear collapse?
I'm hearing that two people were airlifted to trauma centers and one child was sent to a hospital. I think they're stable, but there were a few fairly hurt. It looks like everyone will survive it, which is a godsend.
When I worked on board a ferry. We often said what we do day to day isn't our job. It's the drills and you would see our real job when an emergency happens. The person serving you food and drinks is only doing that because they are there in case things go wrong.
I am so proud of the flight attendants!! My granddaughter is a flight attendant with Delta! I know in my heart that she would be right there making sure that everybody got off the plane safely ❤️
I had an idea to put a home over every homeless veterans head for $900 million and went to the VA with it and the loved the idea. I did the math myself and exactly how to pay for. It involves one of Musk's charities. Musk's blocking all over Facebook. I'm a strong veterans advocate over there.
Maybe after so much “ you are fired” by Trump and Elon, will soon seem the start of a new Chinese cheap labor market after all musk have tones of those in china working for him already!
Kinda underscores the idea that the flight attendants need to be paid MORE and paid for every hour that they are required to be present and on the job.
I was a flight attendant in 1970. They didn’t pay me enough to live in Chicago where I was based. My parents had to make my $150/mo. car payment so I could pay my rent. I don’t think it’s all that different today.
And how decades of safety plans and designs (fasten your seat belts, stow your carry ons), and the reserach, design and construction of the planes (the plane didn't disintegrate into hundreds of pieces scattering passengers everywhere) have vastly improved
What would the goal be? A permanent reduction in consumption would lead to an economic recession. But if this is only a one day event then presumably people would buy more in later days, till consumption was back on trend. And if you only want disruption then Elon Musk is already doing that.
Hear! Hear! Also, an amazing example of successful engineering in aircraft design, training, safety codes and regulations, and emergency response. A miraculous outcome.
We have NEVER had so many plane crashes before. WTF! I am blaming it all on that motherf*cking orange face administration, because they are so f*cking smart.
The thing most passengers never realize is the people serving them as flight attendants are a highly trained rescue squad poised to spring into action when disaster strikes.
I think Pete is highlighting the training of aviation employees in the wake of deregulation & unwarranted accusations about “DEI hires” (most airline attendants are female). This is a separate issue from 1st responders.

Real World Sean, his MAGAt wife, and his litter of rugrats all enjoyed a day of racing at Daytona with the orange shit lump.
And there was another jetliner, a Delta, that crashed on Monday.
Might have been worse if it was a plane with wing engines.

By your standards, perhaps you are the troll trying to limit his national exposure?🤔/s
But I'm *sure he knows better than you or I* how he can best use his time to serve the USA.
Think Trump using his trials to stump.
Pete and AOC are the future of this party.
Assuming we get to vote ever again. It'll be Newsome. And he is literally the devil, but it'll be worth it to see the debates.

Distraction?
Musk getting sued, now they try to run stories lying “he only advisor”
They control too much media and just lie.
Courts good, but what else are we doing?

1) Would like peanuts with your drink?
2) Do what I say if you want to live.
The vast majority of the time they are in Mode 1.
Mode 2 is what they train for. Your life depends on them and they deserve your respect and thanks.
Current tech could automate the whole flight gate-to-gate.
But you need experienced pilots to react and improvise in an emergency. That's when they earn their keep.
The average person would panic, which is why we invest in training professionals to know what to do and take control of situations. Listen to them.
kudos to the crew and to the local emergency services for a truly brilliant job!!

Seems you are still the acting, trustworthy head of the department of transportation, even though you're not allowed in?

Women really need to understand how to support each other.
No one is forgetting about the pilots. It’s the flights attendants who are often forgotten, overlooked, and devalued.
Trying to pull focus back to pilots when seeing someone for once give credit to flight attendants is just more misogyny.
