There is nothing more insufferable than whiny, self- appointed headline editors.

Wasn't the bigger reason that the colonies were dead broke and couldn't afford an army? Same goes for a navy. There was considerable opposition to the US having a Navy, even if were to be comprised of only 6 frigates and no battleships (while the English had ~600 vessels and over 100 battleships).

Both Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground were great and highly influential. I understand ambivalence about Cohen (though I like him), but not Lou Reed. The Velvets were at least a decade ahead of anyone else.

I think it’s more of the administration doing something that they’re actually allowed to do (protect federal assets) so the can argue that can make that argument in court (and in public) to divert attention from their illegal (and otherwise wasteful and pointless) actions.

No worries. There will be a long trail of broken down Cybertrucks marking the route.

Sorry to say, but Democrats have a lot to learn from Republican messaging.

Yet, obnoxious dipshits that have very strong opinions about things they know absolutely nothing about vote too. Dems need to figure out a message that appeals to them too.

Good luck getting Trump’s Inspectors General to undertake anything potentially critical of Dear Leader.

Trump must come clean? As if he’s even capable of doing so.

It seems the American public confuses motion with progress.

“Information” is doing even more work. He “absorbs” and spews misinformation/disinformation. He has no use for factual information.

True enough. A look at Fox News website shows that politics is but a fraction of what they cover. It’s mostly cultural fluff covered in tabloid/People Magazine style.

As if every member of Congress and the President himself reads the entirety of a bill before voting for or signing it. I'd bet that the overwhelming majority of Congress (Democrats included) did not read the entire ~1,000 page "big beautiful bill" before casting their vote.

I liked both genres at the time, but no longer have any use for them (other than Zappa’s foray into the genres with Hot Rats, Waka Jawaka and the Grand Wazoo).

He’s just pissed that the Hall of Presidents includes portraits of presidents other than himself or that his portrait is not an AI generated muscleman.

Or the fact that Werner von Braun and other German rocket scientists formed the core of our space program for 20 years after WW2.

Flag football in the next Olympics has even less appeal than breakdancing in the last one. Other than maybe Canada, no other country even understands or plays the game.

After the stellar pilot, I expected the remaining episodes to be equally great. They simply were not. I like the vibe, production values and cameos, but the show went from great to good after the pilot.

Who cares? All this exit velocity, launch angle and spin rate (for pitchers) detract from the actual game. Such analytical bean-counting has contributed to baseball now being the third most popular sport as opposed to the erstwhile national pastime.

It’s the best designed and curated of any of the Smithsonian museums. If only the museums of American History and the American Indian were as well curated (unfortunately they’re not even close).

Great play, but he looked safe to me.

Wear your half million hat proudly while self-identifying as a gullible MAGAMoron. You could have given that money to charity and instead you chose to give it to the world’s most well-known conman and now you whine about it. What the hell were you expecting?

For sure. It’s not like the Constitution nor subsequent case law are even remotely ambiguous in this regard.
comment in response to post
Maybe it’s not a bad thing to anger the public over unpopular things Trumps says he wants to do but cannot achieve, while frustrating MAGA over so many promises that cannot be fulfilled.

Shouldn’t these gutless firms now just renege on these agreements? They’re now unenforceable, it seems to me.

So, the polar opposite of a Declaration of War, something Congress hasn’t done since WW2. This would effectively demand a Declaration of No War, something they’d be even less capable of.

The business model between MAGA media and the MSM are different. One is a propaganda arm of the Trump administration and the other is news. The backers of MAGA media (e.g., the Mercers) are happy to spend untold millions to sway the masses, whereas the folks behind the MSM are running a business.

It seems to me that if one is incapable of getting past the headlines, they have no standing to complain about the journalistic quality of content thereunder and they certainly have no complaint if the content is provided free. As the saying goes, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
comment in response to post
That's a different issue than folks bemoaning the fact that many newspapers/periodicals aren't free. As for NYT headlines, people whining about their word choices gets pretty tiresome. It often seems they go to the NYT site just to complain about headline semantics rather than to read the articles.
comment in response to post
The expectation of free news is what's killing newspapers. It's hard to pay journalists if readers don't pay for subscriptions and classified ads. I too like free, but am forced to acknowledge that this desire has contributed to the demise of the newspaper industry. IOW, you get what you pay for.
comment in response to post
It's not out of immediate reach. It's the fact that the Web has conditioned you to believe that all info should be free. Prior to the Web, people willingly paid for magazines and newspapers. If anything, we're overwhelmed with information to the extent that we can no longer recognize what's "vital.'

Any chance of SCOTUS revisiting the validity of using the AEA in this instance, particularly that we now know that the intelligence community studied it and contradicted Trump's basis for using it. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
