Logged into the EGM Archive and clicked on a random issue to take the thing for a spin, and the first thing I read is discourse on the $700 price tag of an upcoming console and trying to unpack what systems are worth. Hm!

searching "how to build motion graphics portfolio when you're kinda tired of it as a job but also you don't own most of your work and ethically you kinda can't share it anyway"

BK Indie deleted his old YouTube channel and is reuploading on a new channel, to clean things: www.youtube.com/@bkingfilm2/... Who is he? The "NoClip of China" - he's been doing documentaries on local games for 8 years and posting them with English subtitles! A must-watch to expand your horizons!

I revisited MGS2 criticism for the first time in a decade. It feels good to reconnect with it. I hope everyone loves something like I love Metal Gear. Here, I discuss narrative design in MGS2's VR Missions, how it folds back into the campaign's story, and the meaning this has beyond the game.

I experienced the end of Death Stranding in the way I've always experienced the finales of Kojima's games - sitting down at 8PM and not realizing it's 3:45AM once the ride's done. Gonna need to think about it for a while but I absolutely loved it

"If you see this post your Lock Screen" Tokyo Tower, as seen in Sailor Moon R: The Movie

I started a Steam Curator page, inspired by the great work of @caseyexplosion.bsky.social and @dominictarason.com, and also the urge to add more positive voices into a space that really could use 'em! store.steampowered.com/curator/4556...

looking forward to my exclusive Nintendo challenge coin

one of my most prized possessions is this kazuo oga book i bought at the ghibli museum. he has devoted decades of his life to creating some of the most beautiful illustrations. and these ai fascists think typing some words into a theft machine is the same thing. fuck off.

thoughts on ghibli ai stuff: tempted to exclaim the people posting it have never seen a ghibli movie but really it shows people dont always know why they like something (and have no interest in learning more about why something makes them feel the way it does thru criticism or even BTS craft talk)

truly, living the dream

this is you btw

Duolingo making my friends sound like a Metal Gear Solid boss

A lot of my favourite games fall into this 'If I gotta be boring and objective it's a 7' category. I'll always have a huge soft spot for some of Koei's lesser known games, like Warship Gunner 2 (which is WAY weirder and funnier than it sounds) and Bladestorm, which is European history, mangled

Hello Mia Farrow is on bluesky playing Deus Ex

No one will admit it but Garfield is a direct descendant of Tiger Mask and this proves it. Took that suplex like it was nothing. Almost finishes the guy with something resembling a Canadian Destroyer

i love this guy

it's time for the video game crash myths to go back in time and stay there. great thread by @katewillaert.bsky.social

Gordon Ramsay: yeah? and where the fuck does this door take us then? Head Chef: NO- (loud rattling cymbal) Gordon Ramsay: oh fuck me. the lost city. restaurant is built on top of the lost city (lizard man hisses at Gordon) Gordon Ramsay: the lost lizard city. fuck me. fuck off

40-something chapters in and loving it.... But I need more Pedro. Kimi ni Todoke: From Me To You (Karuho Shiina)

One of those growing bits of ahistorical nonsense I see online is 'Games were just optimized better in the old days'. Like fuck they were. The entire history of videogames is stuff barely running on intended hardware. Why do you think we've had ultra-low graphics options available since hte 90s?

almost twenty years. RIP #urbandead

Saw this behind the scenes news piece on Space Ghost and it is incredible that it was entirely done using analog tech and nothing digital. The idea of reusing 30 year old animation in this context was a first too. They basically created a whole new animation process from scratch for the show.

john henry pepper would probably love hatsune miku just sayin'
