HB 195/SB 472 would help in promoting rehabilitation and reducing the state's recidivism rates. This could--over time-- save taxpayer $$, and these savings could then be reallocated to address issues like understaffing at DOC facilities. (5/5)

Even though the state's Correctional Education Program has awarded thousands of certificates & industry-recognized credentials over the past few years, the certificates are typically only valid while the people receiving them are incarcerated. (3/5)
