Random thought…how ironic is it that I was afraid of roller coasters for the first half of my life, but then I tried one to please my brand new husband and loved it—but by the time I had a chance to go to a theme park again it wasn't safe because of the spinal damage my arthritis had caused by then.

Elon skuM made sure before he left that he could continue to monitor White House communications. His DOGE guys installed a connection to Starlink which WH security can't monitor to stop sensitive information from leaving or hackers from breaking in. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2... Excerpt:

THERE'S A FLASHLIGHT FISH?

RFKjr wants to stop oversight of "experimental" [read: fake] treatments while admitting some could be "risky or fraudulent" and saying "of course you’re going to get a lot of charlatans, and you’re going to get people who have bad results." But yeah, let's let the swindlers and fraudsters go at it.

Great thread. Follow to the end!

The military spends nearly eight times more on Viagra than it does on transgender health care. But the administration cites cost as a reason to throw transgender personnel out of the military.

Trump once attacked crypto as a danger. Now he’s made billions from it. His meme coin allows any foreign state, King, pardon seeker or criminal org to secretly put money directly in his pocket. And Trump’s SEC mysteriously dropped 13 investigations against crypto fraudsters.

This is a must-read! It's very short—only 12 pages —and if you don't want to go through even that much, all you really need to read is the Table of Contents on page 2, which effectively summarizes the report. What Elon skuM managed to do in only 130 days to further enrich himself is mind boggling:

This is a great comparison of AI bots. The AI programs were asked to summarize complex documents in different fields (medicine, law, etc.); then the quality and accuracy of their summaries were evaluated by the authors of the documents. Which one was best? Gift link in second post in thread below:

Democrats, Republicans and independents alike can agree that shelter animals deserve dignity and care. The BARK Act will feed the growing population of hungry pets. Let's get it done! And thanks, Montgomery County Humane Society, for the assist.

Here is a great example of why I hate the voters that gave us Trump. They are too lazy to know what the government does, and how to improve it.

Nationally, pet stores discard millions of pounds of leftover inventory every year, including perfectly good food, leashes and crates. I’m introducing the BARK Act to ensure pet suppliers can donate extra food, blankets and other essentials to the rising population of shelter animals in need.

Went up to one of my favorite local trails today. It runs through mature deciduous woods so it's sunny in winter but cool and shady now. The river was babbling and the woods were filled with singing and calling birds, including a barred owl, and there's a red-shouldered hawk's nest right overhead.

I don't think that an event slated for a few billion years in the future should be considered a valid rationale for being a selfish dick over the short term. bsky.app/profile/mich...

"In Mata v. Avianca, a NY attorney relied on ChatGPT to conduct his legal research. The federal judge overseeing the suit noted that the opinion contained internal citations and quotes that were nonexistent. The chatbot made them up and even stipulated they were available in major legal databases."

#SlavaUkraini Fuck you Putin, "Pearl Harbor" doesn't fit because YOU started the war, and years into the war, you should been ready for an attack.

This feels so real.
