i havent used rm2003 in a long time but i think one way is by placing an image that fills the screen? im pretty sure it lets you adjust the opacity of the image

the graphics might be the hardest part (especially enemy sprites) but i could just do 8-bit or do it in gb studio

soma - maybe some recency bias for this as i just beat it two days ago, but it's just a very good existential sci-fi horror. the game part isn't that fun, but it has amazing atmosphere and the narrative/characters really push you through. pretty bleak overall, but there is a glimmer of hope.

a blurred line - one of the earlier rm2k games that showed the real potential of the medium. it was a time when the use of rtp graphics, and other graphics and music ripped from snes games, was the norm, but it was really about the story and systems in this one. lots of choices and mini-games

sim tunes - trying to do more random unknown stuff. so this was a fun music "toy" for pc from the 90s. may have even been my intro to making music on pc tbh. you can maybe understand it better through some gameplay videos however: youtube.com/playlist?lis...

ok my virus detector especially didnt like it. got the first screen twice then it finally started after the virus scan ok'd it. i collected the key then clicked on the cage i got the second image and that crashed it. tried it twice. im on windows 11. hope it helps
