Doing a little “retro” game hunting is turning out to be a pleasant diversion - scouting around for a physical copy of little oddities in the PS2 library like The Getaway or Rygar is easier than hunting down Saturn titles, but difficult enough that I don’t always find something on every trip.

I don’t know about buying, but it never hurts to learn a new skill. Check out Reddit, see if anyone has recommendations for a lefty/queer-friendly range in your area, and sign up for beginner course. I’ve done handgun and trap lessons and both were chill and pleasant, if a little dull.

Same-ish. I need to plan out how to best take advantage of the social get-out-of-jail-kinda-free card that is the midlife crisis 🤔

The vibes here really took a drastic plummet somewhere around the election. All of a sudden every other post is a hashtag resist bot or a Facebooker doing the online equivalent of wandering out in the middle of the street in an ambien-induced daze.

Underrated banger. I was so bummed when my online buddies moved on from it - I’d just unlocked the advanced kits, too 😭

I’m at 4/10 so far - missing Emilia Perez, Complete Unknown, Substance, Wicked, Nickel Boys and I’m Still Here - and Anora is my favorite of the bunch so far. I’m probably slotting in I’m Still Here next out of what I’ve got left, then Nickel Boys, then… probably skipping the rest tbh

Also, spoilers for a 53 year old short film but I love the matter-of-fact-ness that everyone approaches the supernatural with in BARCHESTER. Someone finds a scroll with an incantation on it inside a broken carving? Guess it's cursed. There's an unspoken agreement that magic is not unusual.

THE STALLS OF BARCHESTER (1971) fit my mood much better. Fusty historians, ghostly visions, and creepy carvings veer much further into more traditional horror, but what can I say; I like being pandered to.

WHISTLE AND I'LL COME TO YOU (1968) was eerie, but I struggled to connect with it a bit. I've seen people praise the way it slims the original story down to the bones, but I needed a little more interiority to work with. Probably would've been my jam if I found it late at night, alone in the dark.

Like clothes, I’m a “find a brand you like and stick to it”: - Aesop Hwyl - Aesop Eidesis for the office - Aesop Miraceti for date night I used to wear some Blackbird stuff (Targa, Pipe Bomb) but fell off it. I want to get back to it but need to find some houses that I vibe with!

It’s next on my list! Wish there was a nice updated transfer - although I’m also looking forward to the BFI’s 4k restoration of The Draughtsman’s Contract.

Impossible to choose four stills to represent this. You have no idea.

Favorite rewatch: The Three Colours Trilogy Another thing about me: I love a movie about a composer.

Runner up: The Devils (1971) You thought *Nosferatu* was too gross and horny? Sweetie, step back and watch a master work.

Favorite new-to-me classic: Seance on a Wet Afternoon (1964) How is Kim Stanley in so little? Her performance in this is great; the final sequence is exactly what you hope for when you pick up something like this.

Runner-up: Anatomy of a Fall (2023) Watched this in truly obnoxious circumstances (long plane flight, shitty complimentary earbuds, very tired) but it held my attention the whole time. One thing about me: I will never say no to a good courtroom scene. Richard Brody hated it, therefore I love it.

Favorite new(-ish) watch: Perfect Days (2023) Just a story about a lil guy. Doing lil guy things. Watch him enjoy his book! Surely nothing will upend this.

Radiance is quickly becoming one of my favorite boutiques, plus man do they have a crack art team over there.
