People who got into public service typically care a lot about the work they do. They believe in public service. Now they are being harassed and fired for no reason other than that belief, for doing jobs. Its a grotesque abuse of government power. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Thanks, Robin! That was a wonderful time if far too brief, and I’m glad we’ve stayed connected over the many years since.

It's been a long and amazing run, and I thank my wife and family and friends for all their support over the years. I also thank everyone I've worked with — and especially all the people who have read, played, or otherwise enjoyed the countless things I've helped create.

I also worked at the president of Pinnacle Entertainment Group for four years in the '90s, but since I was one of the company founders, I still count that as working for myself. Also, I still freelanced while I was there, on the side.

The moment she was ready, though, I resigned and went back to freelancing.

Since then, I've worked almost entirely for myself, with the exception of a stint as the director of the adventure games division at Human Head Studios. I took the job solely for the health insurance, as Ann had just given birth to our quadruplets, and she wasn't going back to work for a while yet.

That was Ann Forbeck, now my wife of 32 years and the mother of our five kids. Best decision I ever made, by light-years.

Yeah, this is why I went back to freelancing after publishing games.
