Closing unsignalized intersections like the one at Hubbard and 40th would prevent cars from taking turns across a 2 way cycle track, sidewalk, and transit lane. Traffic studies found added delays of at most 16 seconds for vehicle traffic while greatly improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Currently Councilmember Priforce is working with business owners to try and kill necessary safety improvements that would prevent incidents like this from happening. Contact our council and let them know we can't compromise safety for business profits. www.ci.emeryville.ca.us/forms.aspx?f...

This intersection closure prevents turning conflicts at an unsignalized intersection across a two way cycle track and a bus lane, while also providing a new pocket park featuring public art. Access to Hubbard is still easy for car traffic from Park Avenue and there is minimal loss of parking.
