It’s scandalous that women such as Sandie Peggie and Eleanor Frances have had to put everything on the line because regulators have failed to uphold laws that have been in place for decades

Sex Matters ended the week by writing to the Health and Safety Executive, the regulator for workplace health and safety across Britain, calling for it to do its job, and suggesting that it works with the EHRC to issue “postcard-sized” guidance. Let’s see what next week brings!

The First Minister claimed that the law is “crystal clear” but also that it would be unlawful of him to talk about the Scottish Government's position on the definition of sex because of the ongoing For Women Scotland case.

As many lawyers, such as Scott Wortley, pointed out, the relevant legislation for employers is the 1992 regulations and no such test applies.

On Thursday, the Scottish First Minister stood up in Parliament, and said he is sticking by guidance. He defended NHS Scotland’s guidance to take a “case-by-case” approach to deciding that some men are allowed to undress in women’s changing rooms.
