Linnett is long forgotten? I feel old. I learned it in my inorganic chem class…and thought it was quite useful.

Plus maybe the chipmakers will finally hitch up their belts and give us the x86-1024 processors we’ve been waiting for!

Think of how good the AI would be with 1024 bits of precision. Planck-scale AI. The marketing just writes itself! 😁

I want the other way. I’m officially calling on IEEE 754 to spec binary256, 512, and 1024. More precision I say, more! 😁

Yeah. The HPC stuff there is still good, but It’s the surrounding bits I’m not too keen on sadly

Very true. But was nice to see it take hold so quickly

Yeah. At some point I might just get there. I’ve already moved to starship, so at least my prompt is the same everywhere. :)

I tend to pop into it when I have to deal with json or yaml. It’s nice to just run “open” on them. If only @nushell.bsky.social had netcdf support!

Yeah. Fish causes the same issues. I should like it more, but I have so many plugins now my zsh is close to fish. :) nu is so different my brain doesn’t think it’s posix like fish sort of is close to

I’m slowly trying to learn it. I have like 30 years of POSIX (csh and bash) I need to unlearn though. :)

Welcome back. This site became HPC central during SC24. Was sort of…spontaneous.

Comic-Con in the sense that my friends who go to Comic-Con always seem to eat there every year :)

If you are up for a Comic-con like experience, head to Trader Vic’s. The salmon was good and the peanut butter spread is always yummy.
