Mine turned 9 late last year and I made her get it because I knew what was coming.

It isn’t normal to hurt millions of people and relish in their pain. It isn’t normal to destroy everything built to protect people for personal profit. It isn’t normal to vilify entire groups of people and attempt to erase their existence or celebrate their anguish.

It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic. When the fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.

Holding the line is my only way to protest.

One side is asking is to do the impossible while the other claims we are complicit.

People will indeed die. People have already died. Who will sound the alarm?

These are mostly good things that benefit the public. In normal times anyway.

There are several things that we give up as public servants. We cannot run for political office. We cannot strike. We cannot officially endorse products. We cannot fundraise for political parties. These are all designed to keep us professionally apolitical no matter our private politics.

It absolutely is illegal what they are doing. But if we strike we are fired. Legitimately and for cause. I don't think that helps anyone.

Regardless of our personal political beliefs we signed up to serve the public and uphold the CONSTITUTION. In my job I don't ask who someone voted for, I just serve them all. Those days seem numbered now.

I would add that the reason we are not allowed to strike is to protect the people from losing services. Just as many of us are deemed essential during a government shutdown. Federal Employees have certain restrictions designed to protect the public.

We are not legally allowed to strike. But also, it wouldn't matter much as destroying the government is the goal.

They haven't been cut yet, AFAIK. Still won't call me back, inexplicably.

Have they opened it back up? I keep trying but it always says I've reached my limit.

Evil isn’t *just* the flag-waving Nazis or the government thugs throwing people into vans to be deported. It’s also the millions of Americans who condone and support things like that, the voters. That is evil and it’s incredibly, infuriatingly, intolerably banal.
