I agree, the idea that being smart will save you from being poor is BS. But it's frustrating to see friends dig themselves deeper with stupid decisions. When they fall behind on rent but also get all their meals delivered, uber instead of taking the bus, and go into credit card debt for anime merch

This is totally true in my neighborhood in East Oakland - several food stalls nearby started staying open til 11 pm to accommodate night workers returning home and it has felt so much nicer (and safer) to walk around because there are people out just eating and having a nice time

When I would look in the mirror when I was younger I would get this crazy disconnect and feel that I am a different person from who I saw in the mirror. Saw a few old photos and got that feeling again. I feel much closer to what I see of myself in the mirror now.
