Apropos of nothing, I have personally known 30 people in my life so far who had cancer. Only three of them died. All of the others lived, and are now cancer-free. If you’re battling cancer right now, please don’t give up hope! May the odds be ever in your favor.

It just makes no sense. ICE is keeping my friend Cliona locked up for 6 months before her deportation hearing. WHY??? They worried she’s a flight risk? That she might flee the U.S. and never come back? ISN’T THAT WHAT THEY WANT?

Update on my friend Cliona: she is looking at several months in prison awaiting her deportation hearing, after initially being told her hearing would be held May 7. The reckless cruelty of this administration is out of control.

🚩THIS IS REAL. My lifelong friend Cliona was arrested by ICE while returning from Ireland, and is currently being held in a detention center in Seattle. Please consider donating to her defense fund: www.gofundme.com/f/clionas-ho...

If I were that old guy at the beginning of A Clockwork Orange, I would’ve been singing Cocteau Twins lyrics as the young alt-right thugs beat me to death. Okay not the most cheerful thought on a Friday night, but fellow Gen-Xers, you feel me, right?

One of the saddest things I have learned about conservatives is that they don’t masturbate because they’re afraid their dead grandparents might be watching them from heaven.

If you must speak in a fake Irish accent tonight, try warming up with “The seals took JEH-MEH! An’ he’s just a wee BEH-BEH!”

Just a #StPatricksDay reminder that those stereotypes of Irish people as drunken louts are only about 10% accurate. The other 90% is British propaganda. ☘️

My all-time favorite depiction of Irish stereotypes: “Up the Long Ladder,” in which the Enterprise evacuates a village of Irish peasants from a doomed planet. Once in the cargo bay they throw straw on the floor, release live chickens, and begin sucking whiskey out of the food replicators. #startrek

We're quickly approaching that holiday where I'm reminded that my ancestors' primary contributions to world culture are salty platitudes, community-enabled alcoholism, and little green men with hoarding issues. Also: no song lyric is too vulgar if it ends with "early in the mornin'." ☘️

If you’re siding with Vladimir Putin, you’re wrong.

I pray today’s children don’t grow up believing that the authoritarian madness of the past nine years is the norm. I pray that they study history, cultivate empathy, and learn critical thinking skills. I pray that they are not poisoned by the spiritual sickness of their elders.

Happy V day!

No but seriously. People 1000 years from now will not remember our politicians. They will definitely remember Björk.

This is what revisionist history looks like, in real time. And this also is why it might appear that archaeologists and historians have to dig deep to discover the existence of powerful women and marginalized groups -- because their legacies are so often erased.

I’ve worked in a Federally secure data environment before and I’m pretty sure if I’d ever done what Elon did I’d be in a prison cell right now awaiting trial for data theft, probably also under investigation for espionage.

Musk has as much legal authority to shut down USAID as I do to shut down Tesla, which is to say: none.

2 ideas for my next graphic novel project: A) Modern-day Cthulhu Mythos story featuring Queer+BIPOC protagonist. B) Unofficial fan adaptation of David Lynch’s unfinished film RONNIE ROCKET about a dwarf rockstar with mutant electric superpowers. Which would you rather read?

As you're being furious about the executive orders rolling back trans rights, please take some time to focus on the one impacting incarcerated trans people, who are some of our most vulnerable siblings and set to face the harshest consequences of this regime on multiple fronts:

If you happen to renew your passport successfully and manage to change your gender marker, please for the love of god don't post about it online.

Strange day at work today. As soon as I leave this company, I’m going to have stories to tell.

Thank you everyone who participated in today’s meditation in honor of David Lynch‘s birthday. Now treat yourself to a nice piece of pie and a hot cup of coffee.

Reminder, while you're activated, not to reinvent the wheel. Whatever action you are thinking about taking, someone probably already tried it or something similar to it, so you have the advantage of a fresh new perspective but you're doing yourself no favors if you don't learn from their experience.

We know it can feel impossible to muster up optimism in a moment like this, but there are small things we can all do. It's important to protect yourself, your art, your peace, and your community. We've rounded up some words of encouragement and reminders that hope is not lost. ⤵️

I love how David Lynch fans are not “gatekeepers.” It’s like we’re welcoming everybody we can into the Lynch universe.

A few years ago I was making short films in the style of David Lynch, mainly as a form of art therapy for myself while adjusting to new antidepressant meds. Now that Lynch is gone, I’m considering making more.

I vividly remember that hot summer night I saw Blue Velvet in the theater with my friends Richard and Misuk, and afterwards Richard saying “I’m never doing drugs again.”

I’ve been searching, but am unable to locate that interview with David Lynch where he tells the story of his meeting with George Lucas in 1980 - when Lucas asked him to direct Return of the Jedi. Lynch’s description of becoming physically ill when Lucas showed him the Ewok village is pure gold.
